Much better than Retards.Attempting.Funny.Posts.

It really isnt, trust me. Rap is for the lower forms of life. My previous post wasnt a joke either, and thus, not ment to be funny.

Anyway, i won't argue any further, this genre makes me feel " dirty " if you get what i mean. ;)

Maybe it wasn't meant to be a joke but I found it both funny and true.

You think black people are "dirty" and "lower forms of life"?

:/

Give this a go...

R'n'B may depict Women purely as sex objects, but jesus christ some of those rap artists treat them like dirt. Its not really sending out a good message to society.

Again another No swearing, thought you'd have know by now!!! Big Kev post and a hint of generalisation...

Underground Rap > Gangster Rap

Generally speaking in my opinion.

Hip-hop is a lifestyle.

Little Brother
Sean Price and/or Boot Camp Click
Strange Fruit Project
The Foreign Exchange
Kanye West
Saigon

Up your game.

The Roots and some of Common's stuff I quite like. I dont mind some of the newer hip-hop, all though i tend to sway towards the r&b style stuff. I dont mind them rapping about bitches and chromed nine milly's, but i prefer when the music is based around something with more meaning. Like some of Tupac's stuff. When ever I listen to his music, I listen to what he's say and not what it sounds like. He rapped about real stuff and important things. How it should be.

To be honest I listen to Hip Hop for the production, not the lyrics. That's why albums like The Root's Game Theory really appeal to me. It's also the only reason I can stand listening to Missy E, Timberland has done some great stuff with her.

Here here, i like rap/hip hop and i prefer the american stuff over the british stuff. To me the British stuff just doesnt have the polished edge that the americans have imho. I hardly pay attention to the lyrics although a few tunes have a good line or 2 and if i do i hardly take it literally tbh, you gotta be a bloody freak to take any of their lyrics that seriously tbh. But to me its the music, production by the likes of Dr Dre, Timbaland etc that make me pay attention.

Whereas the british production is just pure utter rubbish tbh, nothing on the american producers. Havent heard one decent hip hop production from these shores that have actually made me go...wow that sounds really good.

Surprised no one else has mentioned Sage Francis yet, he does introspective stuff on "Personal Journals", and more political/social commentary on "A Healthy Distrust". In fact the 3rd track of that album, "Gunz Yo", rails against the subject matter you talk about.
I don't really do rap/hip-hop, but I really rate his stuff.

Oh yeah, and I love ladty sovereign too :)

At chart stuff, yes, but as I said above I actually like rap music where the theme is something more sophisticated than the banter of a 13 year old.
