I've totally gone off American Rap. British Hip Hop > *

Rap nowadays just boring and repetitive I think. I'm really stuck in the early-mid 90's in my musical tastes. Those we're the days, even though I only really recognised good music in 1998. I'm a great lover of Unwritten Law, NOFX, Blink (before all the 182), A Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy, even Fresh Prince. A Tribe Called Quest alone say more than all commercial rappers today. I can't find one decent rapper, with a possitive message, the way it used to be. Rap used to be about points of view and a persons story, and if that's still the case, I find it very hard to believe that almost every rapper today has killed someone or delt drugs in some way, shape or form.

I totally agree with that, but then again I do like artists like Mobb Deep, Lil' Wayne, Tony Yayo, Eminem & D12, Young Buck and a few more, who I personally think are real and are not fake in the slightest, however they rap about stuff you despise. If people rap from the heart and have a good flow, I'm not particularly bothered what they rap about be it guns, bitches etc.

You may not like it but you cannot argue that it is not music.

To do so merely shows yourself to be ignorant.

Ever listened to Immortal Technique? On his album Revolutionary Vol. 1 there's a song about how he raped a woman

its not music, its some thick idiot talking fast, the beat is "BOOM BOOM BOOM" in every single "song", yea apostrophies because its not realy a song because its not music. And why do you think rappers have so much sampling of real songs in their "songs"? thats right, because they need some outside inspiration because otherwise it would be yet the same again.

im now going to post about the new fall out boy album, haha, this will stir some harsh opinions, yet, why does jay z introduce the first song, oh yea, because its better than his own!

"Move along quietly," they ask me so politely
But how long will it be until I'll be living on the stage and getting paid for singing out of key
And not working hard so I'll start saving every penny
On all these bills; electric, water and gas,
And a final reminder for last years' council tax
BT say they won't accept an IOU
I forgot about the rent, I've got four months due!

I pawned mums ceramics; I'm low on weed
I've got a full day at work, only a 'teenth I need
What am I to do? All I've got are these seeds
I could grow them myself...then I could smoke for free
And I could sell them to the tokers who want quality
Homegrown, cultivated hydronically
But there's too much risk from the P.I.G's
Who want to put a toker in a cell with rapists and thieves!

We could all live long if we try
Have a bit of fun on earth before we die
Ambition is the key if you wanna get by
You've got to live long before you ever fly high

Go on, I'm earning money, I'm not a financial dummy
They got me fixing rides, working the nine-to-five
I have a nous for money, I'm working hard for money
They got me going back to college to earn more money
To spend more money on what they take off me;
National insurance, tax and VAT
It's like "A pound for you...And then five for me!"
When they're working out your wages life seems so cheap

What do you do for money? You brown-nose for free?
You should start to charge; You'd earn more than me
Because I won't suck up and sell out to corporate pay-outs
I'll do it my way but...how much did you say?

Would I have a normal life; A wife and three kids
Financial security and a house in the sticks?
Well then I'll bounce! I do it not for money but love!
Plus we always have enough when we get in the club

Well we could all live long if we try
Have a bit of fun on earth before we die
Ambition is the key if you wanna get by
You've got to live long before you ever fly high
We could all live long if we try
Have a bit of fun on earth before we die
Ambition is the key if you wanna get by
You've got to live long before you ever fly high

Learn to fly
Come on and learn to fly
Learn to fly
Learn to fly
Learn to fly

Have you ever been stuck like this?
Brassic
Have you ever been stuck like this?

Luke Skywalker wasn't a rebel for a wage packet!

Your input into this thread really does not deserve any response at all.

Okay sticks and stones (go on, go on)
You wanna break my bones? (go on, go on)
You might think I'm weak but you'd be thinking wrong
I'll take your money and run so (go on, go on)
Okay sticks and stones (go on, go on)
You wanna break my bones? (go on, go on)
You might carry a punch but I carry a bomb
I'll take you all on (go on, go on)

Just when you thought I had lost my aggression
I got it back with your intervention
And now that you know that I live across the road
You better back up because I'm about to explode (boom)
Get up, can you feel a blow to your head when I stick it with my heel?
Have I stole ideals? It's real
A microphone strategy's never been this real

Like The Mask, I'm smokin'
I ain't joking; if you want I can put that in writing
Self-seeker of justice, Your only witness
Hah! You didn't see this pow-wow
These rules are unbreakable
You were making moves like your manna was invisible
Inevitable? Well, you never were that credible...
After ten months when you get parole
You'll break down
Downtown
Stay down
Lock-down
I put down
My foot down
Now lay down
Get down

Say sticks and stones (go on, go on)
You wanna break my bones? (go on, go on)
You might think I'm weak but you'd be thinking wrong
I'll take your money and run so (go on, go on)
Okay sticks and stones (go on, go on)
You wanna break my bones? (go on, go on)
You might carry a punch but I carry a bomb
I'll take you all on (go on, go on)

So I stay down to face my opponent
Live it? I love it! To get it, I get up
Speeding like a juggernaut, I'm out of control
When I get up, my wish gets blown...

I ain't got time to waste, ****
But I will rearrange your face
And just dream of the day when you're in jail
And you're getting butt-****ed by a homosexual

In the meantime
I'll create my own rhymes
You can listen to me lie
And now that I'm feeling fine
My conscience says enough time
On the liveline
Now I'm dodging lyric mines
Then I'll get a driveby...

Fool, you're not giving me enough room
So soon I'll have to get up too
Well how about now, you're asking me how...
Here's how: I'M JUST COMING THROUGH!

Who? what? how? when? why?

Before your time. Someone used to be on here who was REALLY into 'UK grime' and used to type in some strange patois/ebonics and say things like 'call me.' and 'seeme'.

Your diatribe enounces nothing but stereotypes which you have formed based on a few exposures to generic hiphop.

Your post is the definition of ignorance.
