Rap is crap.
FACT.

crap to you, not to many...

personally, i dont really like it.. .at all.. but everybody deserves their say in that!

back on subject, i do agree with your point, im no hardcore rap fan, as already mentioned, but all i heard from american rappers is well... as above! lol!

some good british talent, that quite a lot of ppl have gotten into .. Jamie T
some chap from Wimbledon, really good music! doesnt go on a rant with his bitchez either. ive seen him twice and hes amazing! recomended!

after watching "whats up fatlip" the other day ive been listening too......fatlip

Agreed - though there are some classics - Ready to Die (Biggie Smalls) 2001 (Dre), Duces and Trayz (Snoop Dogg).

Anyone heard of Cannibal Ox? Their album "Cold Vein" is pretty damn amazing - the production is tip top (el-p as they're signed to Def Jux) and lyrics are something else.

The only British hip hop I've heard is from Klashnekoff (which was pretty good), Dizzee and Lethal Bizzle. Oh, and a local stoke rapper called Parradox (actually fairly good - does this rap about meeting this black girl to the tune of 'Gold Digger')

i dont really count old dre and snoop stuff as modern :o lol

by modern i mean since its all gone pop and it seems everyone rapping is a "gangsta"

back in the early 90s it was different/new to the other stuff about

you could actually believe the people rapping where shady characters and probably or definetly did do some of the stuff they rapped about

nowadays theres that many of them that you know its bull **** and youve heard it all before

i probably like eazy e and dre more than i like thomas bangalter :p and everyone here knows thats allot

as for british stuff i seem to like the "pop" artists better , dizee rascal , lady sov etc , its probably part because i havent heard much else and part because im more into other types of music at the moment

and since i bum french indie and electro music ....

any of you listened to uffie ? http://www.myspace.com/uffie weird french accent , full on electro beats lol , im ready too uff....

looking at her pics (hot) you just dont expect the lyrics that come out lol

dj funk too what a legend

Real perspective, always out for my collective,
Higher plateaus, I'm getting on to direct this,
Masterpiece of modern day dialect,
It only takes one day for the actors to perfect it.

Push competition like a bottle cap, I'm dashing,
Flash like blades and bury reps like hatchets,
Styles like chains; you want to snatch it,
Trying to raise his hand, or even see it, you couldn't match it.

Revolutionary status Translators,
Bringing change for the better, don't complicate us,
Carry out plans to the letter,
I'm simple like addition and subtraction,
No fractions; I'm Primary like Fifty Seven,
Whole numbers, clique made in heaven,
So lets leave the lyric that's unleaven,
Untitled like...It's true; main ingredients:
Rude attitude, experience,
Subdued competitors (make them obedient).

Shed light in dark,
I'm more bite than bark,
Anticipated but I'm known and feared from the start,
Outsiders; but like midas (golden touch),
Dress compositions in lyrical silks and such,
On occasion...But mostly we cause abrasion,
Rubbing up the wrong way like Threat To The Nation,
Bring truth to the youth and we're saying like sooth,
Clash with titans and coming out on top like Zeus.

Yo,
Three-hundred-and-sixty-five days when the Earth spins
Lifes get crushed quick with rage when it blows wind,
Deep within the core, nature lays it's laws,
And when it shakes...It sounds like a round of applause,
From the banging, this paradise for which we're all searching,
Sun shines on isles; different flavours in the ocean,
I guess you all know we need H2O,
Juice of life; and free from the rivers that flow.

Juveniles bringing ruckus, fire and four-fours,
Trying to do the best while avoiding the law,
Still reign hardcore, wanting to reach the top,
Of the mountain and what...Hoping they don't drop,
Now they're sizing up as liars,
Like when David slew Goliath,
But like God said: "Go forth and mul-ti-ply-eth,"
He crossed their wires over this long-time stretch,
Time for unison like that buddhist in Tibet.

The shadow now is deep,
Finished and complete,
Integrated into lesser conscience when you sleep,
Translators, listed all of this like vapours,
Killers on plantation acres, we're your saviours.

Minorities and poverty go hand in hand,
It's the conscientous man with souls for sale,
The treacherous malice induces us to fight,
Refuse to unite; can't recall wrong or right.

Forgot divine laws and what Dad did to yours,
Around the same time Christianity crashed our shores,
Claiming to explore (that's global economics)
Mixed with poli-tricks, watch our natural-born finest...

Neo-collonialism is monetary slavery,
Exercise power through your airforce and navy,
Exploit the continent, sack us up as silk,
Without even feeling a drop of guilt.

You've amended history with lies,
Piercing eyes see through a false prophet,
Prophecise!
Seven-headed wedding with armageddon ties,
Fixed to a crucifix, under translucent skies.

The shadow now is deep,
Finished and complete,
Integrated into lesser conscience when you sleep,

Killers on plantation acres, we're your saviours.

<3 UK hiphop part 3.

I've really started getting into my UK hip hop especially Klashnekoff and Akala although Akala's retail album sounds so different to everything else I've heard from him. It sounds like they've forced him to do something similar to Kano/ Plan B with the rock vibe some of the tracks have.

I finally got hold of all of J5's albums this week which has finally stopped me listening to Sting and the Police for days on end. :(

Wow, just listening to "Power In Numbers" for the first time. It's immense. Definately going to be put on repeat for the following weeks

Jedi Mind would be great if Vinnie didn't feel the need to just sit there shouting his own name over the track the whole time. their latest album's pretty good. it's how i'd imagine if scene kids rapped.

For the UK, i listen to Roots Manuva, Skitz, Lady Sov, A-Ball, Lady Paradox, Aceyalone (think he's british), DJ Format, Phi Life Cypher, Herbaliser.

US - Blueprint, Soul Position, Hi Tek, Common, The Coup, Kanye, Talib Tweli, Mos Def, The Roots

and, of course, Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince (laugh all you want, he's the DJ and in this corner are wicked albums!)
