IvyBridge Is Far Bit Faster than Old I7's!

My apologies for suggesting that you might be trolling.

To be honest I think the only person that got trolled was me... I still can't see the logic....

Best analogy I can come up with is:

OP had taxi that can carry 8 passengers @ maximum of 29mph BUT CHOOSES to only CARRY 1
OP buys new taxi that can carry 8 passenger @ maximum of 39mph... BUT CHOOSES to always CARRY 8

obviously the 39mph one is going to allow him to deliver more passengers if speed limit allows.... but the main gain is from carrying more passengers i.e. Using a newer version of the software that is multithreaded better....

Original Taxi with 8 passengers @ 42mph - WHEN CARRYING ALL 8, would probably have offered same performance

I know one thing, a 4.5ghz i5 3570k is a dire upgrade from an i7 920 at 4.2ghz for games that i play. Lack of hyperthreading renders the 3570k a waste in certain games. My advice for gamers, if you have a 920 DO, do not buy a 3570k. 3770k yes by all means.

I only popped in CPU's for a nose...I'm astonished at the crap some people are posting.

Its not like the good old days of us real overclockers;)

Thing is easy,(btw nice to see you on again mate). Ive done the move from the "older intel" to the newer one. Im by no means an expert on oc'ing. But, with recent intel quads that ive clocked, (q6600,q9550, i7 920, i7 930). The only difference i noticed was from the 9550 to the 920. I game an awful lot, quite often with highly clocked multi gpu's. The 920 has been the best cpu ive ever owned.

My comment wasn't aimed at you mate. I totally agree hence why I still have my 920:D

I know it wasnt mate, i kept my i7 930. It clocks to 4.3 on air, has a more modern mobo. Two 900 rigs oc'd were very high on leccy use lol. One had to go.
