Ivybridge underwhelming

Another assumption is that if you'Ve bought an Ivy CPU you must be mad moving from Sandy, when a lot of people like myself never bought Sandy and are upgrading from much older chips!

The 3770k vs 2600k is interesting because of the price gap, the 2500k and 3570k are so closely priced on most decent sites that for most the Ivy is the logical choice.

Indeed - I went from an Athlon X2 4200+ (from 2006?) to a i7-3770K. It's fair to say I've noticed a slight increase in speed :D :D

Heh, I hadn't noticed the price of the 3770K had creeped up a bit, think it was £249.99 when I ordered it on sunday.

It's gone up by like £10 and the 2700k has dropped to like £230.. was like damn.. ahah. I have a feeling this is the price IB is probably going to stay being sold at.

Oh bugger, take it I should revive my old AMD system now and return my Ivy all this fail talk is reminding me of a BD thread.

PS Not really am more than happy with my purchase, not had a real play with it on the OC front bar just knocking the multi up. Less heat in my WC loop overall too so my fans are actually able to run lower than before.

Thanks for the complement. Perhaps you might expand on your comment, though - why would a person buying an Ivy be an idiot? Explain yourself - this is a discussion forum not a place to insult people.

Don't bother with him he won't be able to justify it as with a lot of Ivy haters he probably thinks the IB chips heat up outrageously below 4.6Ghz.

Is ivy really fail? I personally wouldn't buy one at this time but only because I have a SB and I'm more than happy with it, the heat is a slight disadvantage because it prevents from oc higher, but I agree 4.6ghz is hardly a bad overclock so any one coming from a lesser chip than sandy just make your choice and be happy with it.

I await to see if the heat issue will improve with a revised ivy, fingers crossed.
