Another nail in this movie concepts coffin. Everything after Terminator 2 has been if you ask me.

he's hardly a cop-out though

everything else he's been in has been fantastic

i can't imagine this bringing the T series back to greatness

3 could have been awesome, but they packed it with cheese :(

I didn't mention him as meaning he's a cop out.

Just that it doesn't surprise me that a tired franchise that ran out of steam years ago has hired such an actor (who in my mind is fantastic) to try and revive it.

And it also irks me somewhat that such an actor would take such a role, but then I guess it's a nice paycheck.

Well, as much as I hate to say it, that looks fantastic in my opinion. Christian Bale is enough for me to enjoy a film, even if it would have been terrible otherwise. Equilibrium is a good example. If Sean Bean had had a bigger role, I think it would have been a REALLY great film, but Christian Bale did seem to hide the fact the script wasn't the best. If he's on form in this, then I look forward to it.

I still don't think it'll make me consider it as part of the T1/T2 Terminator series though.

I really think it could be a great film, he did a brilliant job in Equilibrium - it's one of my favourite films of his and I can't see them going too far wrong with this - the 'teaser' really doesn't give away much at all ... there's more static than anything else!

I'm pretty much of the same thought.

Thing that grinds my gears about Terminator 3, aside from it being crap, is that they offer no explanation to how Terminators can still exist except for Arnie saying "Judgement Day is innevitable". It's an utter cop out.

Given the events during and the ending of Terminator 2 there's no way 3 etc can be considered canon.

you really think Bale, a man who strives on playing difficult to act parts, would do it purely for the money?

look back at all the rolls he's played, every single one of them has been exemplary. Patrick Bateman in American psycho, John Preston/Equilibrium, Trevor Reznik/the Machinist, Jim Davis/Harsh times, reign of fire, batman, rescue dawn, 3:10 to Yuma..... when was the last time he took a lead and put out a turkey lol

Bale over anybody else seems the least likely to take a role because of money
