The diff has to 'slow down' from stationary? It's been back to Stratstone Jag and they've confirmed that it is the e-diff, their explanation was something along the lines of needing to give it a bootful as the diff expects this, a slow pull away causes it to have to 'slow down' causing the knock.

Heres mine, a little more on the classic side of Jaguar
I would say that Jaguar's explanation of a slowing down diff is nonsenseThis is what I have been told second hand, yes. It's difficult to explain, but it's almost as if it's 'expecting' to get hammered from standstill and is 'surprised' when you gently squeeze the throttle, causing the thump.
Very bizarre, not helped by the fact that Jaguar's understanding and explanation doesn't inspire confidence.
Did the early XFs not have DRLs?And I'm addicted to the day running lights. Unlocking the car and seeing them come on, I just stood at the window and found myself unlocking the car over and over just to look at them sad I know haha
Some (all) lovely looking Jaguars in here! Is there a 3.0 petrol, or is "here is my 3.0 S" diesel implicitly?

When you say 'could get', what did you have to do to get them? You could get LED equipped chrome bumper blades on the pre facelift, the 2012 freshening put DRLs into the headlamp in terms of the J lights.
I would ask them to explain in detail the exact operation of the differential and how and why this clunking is normal. When they can't, tell them it's broken!Heh, it took them 6 weeks to locate and send out the service book. The car has done almost as many miles going back and forth to the dealership since he got it too, so no major surprise there!

You could order them as a styling accessory. DRLs were not required.

Apparently he's managed to get in contact with an acquaintance who is a mechanic at the JLR plant, he says he'll have a look and see if he can make any sense of it, but the whole issue is a bit of a head scratcher. Would be very interested to see what they say/do about yours Steedie.
