Jailbreaking now illegal...

And hand it over???

So basically you are renting it?

You're able to upgrade your handset when you're in the last month of your contract. Or, if you are happy with your existing handset you could switch to one of our simplicity tariffs.

Basically, it isn't written anywhere in law that they have to provide an unlock code (although OFCOM have stepped in, on certain occassions), so after the 18 months is up, they will disable the iPhone as you can't switch to another tariff.

There is a bit in the regular T&Cs about unlocking, but you'd have to confirm it applies to the iPhone..

think my iPhone 3g will be my last apple purchase, as a product designer myself, I do appreciate many of their design choices, but I dispise their ethics. I don't think anyone out there likes being controlled in the way Apple does

lol apple are in for such a shock if they think people will do what they say.

There's a backdoor for everything, there are people with 2,3,4 iphones and if they try stopping itunes from working with a jailbroken iphone, someone will crack an itunes app to make it work.

knowledge is power, and when your up against the majority of the internet... your pretty ******

How is that your right? I'm pretty sure it's technically their right to ask for the phone back.

That's not true, when you complete your contract time, the phone is yours.

What you pay monthly subsidises the cost of the handset.

That's why SIM only contracts are cheaper because they don't need to recover the cost of the handset. That's also why networks give you discounts when you've been with them for a while. It's not so much a loyality discount, but cost reduction on their part if you're not upgrading your phone.

I'll always go for the upgrades though and just stick them on ebay.

Last time I upgraded I got a SE C905, stuck that on Ebay and it sold for £265.
