James Bond

Inside the Amazon meeting right now they are talking about:

Jamelia Bond, pink haired super sleuth attending diversity high.

She's a teen spy with an entourage that gets just as much screen time as she does. She spends her days 'fighting injustice and calling out intolerance'.
First episode someone in the cafeteria introduces themselves "last name, First name, last name".
Jamelia mocks them of course, "who speaks like that." Letting us all know she's better than the bond we know and there won't be any of those trademark lines and mannerisms in this show.
She seems like a bully at first glance, but it's okay, the target of her mocking is a CIS white male athletic type, so mocking him isn't stepping over any lines, also his dad is villain of the week.

Oh, she's American. The villain is British. And let's make it animated, the janky 3D CGI kind.

:D

This is all exaggerated and tongue in cheek of course. Maybe Amazon will hire decent staff and cast and knock it out the park.

Oh
Everyone knows the 1st amazon production set in the bond universe will be called Moneypenny and will show how she's the true superspy, kicking ass, taking names and protecting the world from global destruction, all whilst being just a 'secretary'..
:cry: :cry::cry:

With Amazon now holding the keys to the Bond universe, an adaptation of author Kate Westbrook’s The Moneypenny Diaries—which explores Miss Moneypenny’s life before working with Bond—is reportedly the frontrunner, with actress Florence Pugh lined up for the starring role.

I don't want a bad bond film but this is going to unfold in a very predictable manner, a bunch of people with no connection to the franchise will think they can do it better by follow another Hollywood trend.

I am getting flashbacks to Jeff Goldblum speech from Jurassic park.

That attention grabbing headline is Deadline quoting the Daily Mail, quoting an anonymous insider at Amazon.

Nice for clicks tho.

Full quote from the unnamed insider here (emphasis added by me):

"There have been so many erroneous rumours about the future of Bond. Amazon is committed to keeping the spirit of Bond alive and that means he has to be British or from the Commonwealth – and he has to be male.

Jeff is a massive Bond fan and while he's excited to see how Amazon can take the franchise forward there are certain things which are sacrosanct. That's why the memo went out this week, to reassure everyone.

'But certain things are up for discussion, like whether the next Bond should be played by a man of colour.'"

That the title which states the next bond will remain British is incorrect by omission.
The full quote states, "or from the commonwealth", which is the part I emphasised.

I guess it depends when they set it, for the most of the period in which the original Bond books were loosely set Commonwealth Citizens were British Subjects. It wasn't until 1962 that their status was changed. I hadn't realised he's half-Swiss and mostly raised abroad in the original; people would probably be outraged if he rocked up as a German-speaking half-Swiss in this latest incarnation! :D
