Jamie Carragher joins Sky Sports

I can kind of follow what he's saying most of the time (not all of the time) but his voice grates on me like nails on blackboard.

I will mute if he's on telly.

I can't see him being great, but then again I despised the idea of Neville doing the job before he started, so am more than happy to give Carra the benefit of the doubt!

Its just ridiculous, he sounds like he's trying to be one of the rappers whose schtick is just talking REALLY fast with zero variation of pace.

Honestly this is yet another appointment that simply proves the old boys network in sports. The guys who got in the jobs in the first place are ex footballers or people involved in football, and they hire ex footballers. The only person I can think of lately to actually ever call the ex pro's on the BS they spout and the cliches and basically demand an explanation, thereby making them look stupid, is the BBC guy who got fired recently. He would hear some utter tosh, ask them to explain it, and got fired, rumoured to be heavily disliked by Hansen and Shearer for daring to question an ex footballer on their opinion.

Caragher, I have no idea what he's like in terms of what he would say, but he's utterly, utterly unsuitable for a speaking role on tv, its utterly absurd, should also be mentioned in that pic you've got 3 ex liverpool guys and one Utd guy, hilariously Liverpool biased Sky have been, forever.

The really funny thing will be Neville and Redknapp trying to agree or disgree with Caragher when neither has a damn clue what he's saying :p

Neville had already done a few appearances before he got the gig full time and was already excellent. The actual content of what they are saying aside, Neville is clear spoken and easy to understand regardless of what he's saying, Caragher can't speak english..... I think Adebayor was easier to understand and he got canned after speaking basically like Caragher but a different accent. There is a clip of Pepe taking the pee out of Adebayor, he gives an interview, puts all his words together at insane pace then Pepe does an impression of it and they both laugh. He was on BBC for the world cup for one game, then not ever again, because its insane having someone 99% of the audience can't understand.

I have no problems with Carragher himself, but I do sometimes struggle to understand him. Strange decision purely based on his extremely strong accent.

bring back andy grey :D

Perhaps I'm a minority by I genuinely liked Keys and Gray and their talksport thing is probably one of the best discussions of football you will get. Neville on Monday night is the only other decent offering.

It's a bit saddening how there is no decent round up football punditry/discussion show like you get with the American sports.

The Guardian's podcast is a pretty good roundup of the weekends events

I can only put this down to you not having listened to much football discussions.

The Guardian Football Weekly
The Football Ramble
The World Football Phone in
Cafe Calio
Hand of Pod

Are all excellent and the ESPN FC Podcast is 'ite most of the time!

Can't stand Keys and Gray. Can't stand Talk**** either.

How could anyone not like Andy Gray?! Him and Martin Tyler, their commentary could make even the dullest of matches seem exciting.

Plus Gray and Nevilles analysis on a Monday night would have been epic :D

Disagree, you only have to watch Neville and Redknapp do a game together and Red Nev for some reason takes a back seat to him (who knows maybe he thinks the more he lets Redknapp talk the better pundit it makes him look :D)

I used to like the days of Andy Gray on MNF but since he's been gone and Nev's come in you can see whilst Gray was better than most he still weren't that great ;)

There are worse.

Robbie Savage is much worse. I find Jon Champion irritating beyond belief. Commentary and punditry is littered with *****, ***** and ******* *********.
