January Transfer Window 20/21

He is cheap now but relative then we payed 24 million which was a lot for someone bearing 30 with only one year left on his contract. Then again 24 million to win a league title is bargain.

He also scored some of the best goals I have ever seen that first season. Utterly immense striker. One of the best ever at his peak IMO.

I’m absolutely gutted that it looks like we’re gonna lose Balogun, and to Liverpool of all teams. :(

I don’t understand his reasoning though. Apparently he’s leaving because of lack of first team opportunities. He’s hardly gonna get any more at Liverpool is he?

Lad looks like he could be serious stuff in a few years.

Dont worry, we'll give you Origi in exchange to make up for it :D

He basically single handedly won you a champions League trophy he should have a free pass for the rest of his life yet he gets so much abuse.

Well first off I would dispute that anyone single-handedly wins a trophy, at least not unless they provide their own assist, score the goal and simultaneously play in goal to prevent conceding goals :)

He isnt good enough for us, thats the bottom line. Its not a question of abuse. Yes, he had his moments, even the worst players can have their moments but that doesnt give him a free pass, nor should it give any player a free pass forever. History is littered, at all clubs, with players who scored key goals but ultimately werent good enough for the team. I bet every single club that everyone on here supports, can look back at their history and find a player who scored important goals but overall wasnt good enough. No player can simply be kept at a team indefinitely on the basis of a few performances.

Its purely a case of is Origi good enough to be at a top team, he has played almost 100 games for Liverpool, in how many of those 100 games has he been of class? How many of the other top 6 in the league would want Origi?

No player over all wins it single handed, secondly as tombstone said even bad players have great moments, and thats all Origi has moments very very few and far between, he isnt good enough

I am not disputing the fact that he isn't good enough but Pool fans talk of him like he is some sort of Leper. Kind of in the same way Arsenal fans threw Wenger under the bus.

Fact is if he didn't make the impact he did in that game against Barcelona you would have been sent packing.

The treatment of Lallana by Liverpool fans when he left was completely different even though he wasn't good enough.

I think he’ll be shot next season. Some games this season he’s looked like a top 5 CB in the league and in others he’s looked ready for retirement.
Fofana and soyuncu will be first choice by next season and Evans will be rotation/backup, in the Wes Morgan role. Good business to sign him up.

Because lallana worked his ass off on the pitch and you could see the effort he put in games even though towards the end he wasn't good enough.

Origi doesn't do any of that, he barely bothers to run in games if he does get a chance.

I don't dispute origi got important goals for us, he has though since joining us only had the one good season which was a season of moments. Prior to that and the chances he has had since he is rubbish.

Doesn't put the effort it, body language on pitch is crap.

He needs to go, if anything just for himself to get his career back on track

He had a good game that night but all players are capable of having good or bad games.

Remember Forlan? Remember all of the teams he scored against? No. You remember his one good game against Liverpool and that's it.

For me, one or two good games in 50 isn't good enough. As Mark1989 has just said, his work effort is atrocious and his impact from the bench is non existent. I believe the last goal he scored coming on as a sub was against Spurs in the CL final, he's come on around 25 times since and not scored.

Different entirely, Lallana was good enough, definitely. Lallana had bucket loads of talent, what he didnt have, and the reason he was allowed to move on, was the body capable of displaying that talent. Origi on the other hand, doesnt have the talent.

Smicer scored for us in the legendary Istanbul champions league final, so we could easily make a comparison between Smicers role in winning a champions league for us and Origis. But would that Smicer get into the Liverpool (or probably any of the top 6) side today? No, he wouldnt. Likewise neither should Origi.

Liverpool twitter have decided we're signing Sven Botman from Lille. There's been a few reports linking us with him over the past couple of weeks and he's just put a pic on Instagram of him at his angents office and his agent has liked a post linking him with us so it's basically done. Hope he can play vs Southampton.
Origi doesn't get abuse does he? We love him for what he did but he clearly doesn't do it enough.

Never seen or heard of him until now, however quick and he is a center back so that's already a good thing !
