It looks like Chelsea are trying to pinch Salah from us :/

Not only are they buying & selling every player in Europe to beat FFP, they've copied Spurs and no longer employ their own scouts anymore.

He played well against us in both games in the group. Pretty sure Mourinho got a decent look at him.

Have to say the reactions of the Chelsea fans on The Shed End are that of absolute rage and despair, they don't want to lose Mata, to us at least.

Tbh i dont blame them, a lot of Arsenal fans were pretty narked off when RVP left for Utd. I suppose supporters dont like seeing their best players being sold to their rivals, not that Utd are rivals this season but i have a feeling that next season this could come back and bite Chelsea on their arses...which isnt a bad thing lol.

Still dont rate Ozil tbh, good player still has a lot to prove imo. He has been hyped up as a world class player by all the media but i just dont see it. I would take Mata every time over him.

tbh I think its moyes trainging / fitness regime , too often in games people look tired with no energy and these injuries can't be coincidence carrick hasn't been injured for years suddenly gets a long one , rvp not one last year etc

I'm not sure which I think is better, but saying you'd take one over the other doesn't mean much. They are both fantastic players, that most teams in the world would take instantly.

Can't blame them really, what seems to be annoying most is the fact that Man.U. refused to deal with us over Rooney when it looked like he wanted to leave (or was desperate to join us to coin a Man.U. fans term) yet we sell them a great player albeit one who doesn't fit in with us now and for a 'January' price.
JM will have his reasons and one of those won't be that he was under any pressure to sell him that's for sure.

2+2 = 5,000,000

RvP has always been injury prone, Utd (and Arsenal before that) were lucky to get a full season out of him in recent years.

Yeah Lampard went how many games before getting injured? Then he got injured, must be the training regime.

Or it could just be getting older.

So many people are now experts on Moyes training because of a few sound bites. RVP has an inury free year and all of a sudden he's the bench mark to judge whether training is over the top.

Clubs like United have a wealth of experts to monitor health and fitness for each individual. They dont spend 30 million on a player and then flog him, these guys are pampered to death.

But no some bloke said that's why RVP got injured and people cling to it and a couple of Everton players remark on the differences in training style and all of a sudden he's a player breaker.

Well you would think Everton would have finished seasons badly through fatigue if that was the case, but no each year except the last we started badly and kicked on later. Strange for that to happen, you would expect them to burn out like the poor tired united players?

Now people will say we started badly because they were tired from pre-season

Very Pro Chelsea way of thinking - or am I being a bit cynical lol

Point 1 - If / When you get ANOther player in with "Man Utd's money" - what cant you afford any players at all without selling Mata. Utter rubbish. It helps you with FFP for sure but thats about all. You will get the players you were going to get anyway (or they themselves will chose a different club) with or without Utd's money from this deal.

Point 2 is probably the only "pro" Utd point

Point 3 According to reports JM was insisting that Mata asked for a move face to face (maybe JM has denied this since I dont know, appologies if this was the case) so this point saying Mata isnt pushing for a move now is being a bit blind

Point 4 Its a Very good deal - but given how crazy transfer fees are going I dont think its "great" for Chelsea. Its not in the league of Ronaldo /Bale money for instance, at this price its a good deal for both parties.

Not only that but also the cost of Mata's fee can hopefully be written off against what improvements in the league position he can help us get to (which would have been far harder to get without him)

Point 5 Given the league position Utd couldnt wait until June thats pretty obvious and Mata NEEDING playing time before that works in Utd's favour and probably lowered the price a little bit (because Mata pushed for a move albeit in the right way ie without going to the press and sulking etc etc).

a lot of the tactical questions seem to imply that teams only play one way with one set of players. Everyone knows thats rubbish. Mata is a world class player who can play in 2 or three positions (arguably) all of which Utd need now and or next season.

We can play different systems against different teams and rotate players and their positions to accomodate rather than being forced to play one way as majority of our current players arent any use anywhere else.

Point 6 /7 (both really asking the same thing)- Mata (as he is world class) WILL attract other top class players a lot easier than if he wasnt signed. With or without Rooney / RvP next season, we can attract a lot of really good upcoming and existing talent.

Out of interest, assuming they would sell one of them for £40m, who would United fans rather have: Mata or Gundogan?

Not sure why one deal excludes te other - Gundogen from what I have seen hasnt been linked to Chelsea as of yet and he plays in a position they have in abundance already)

Personally I hope Gundogen comes to Utd in the summer as well (the mentioned £25m it would cost given his short amount of remaning time on his BD contract would be a fantastic deal all around.

Even better IF Moyes decides to do a part exchange with Kagawa

^^ I'm not necessarily saying that it does! but it's rare for any club to do two deals of that size within six months of each other, with the exceptions of Madrid, City and PSG.

Probably Mata, though if Gundogan was a guaranteed success he plays a position in more dire need of strengthening - arguably anyway - though it's not as if our more forward players are particularly good aside from Januzaj (discounting the strikers).

I hope we can get both. Gundogan has just been out for six months with a fairly serious back injury so it makes him quite risky until we're sure he's fully recovered and it doesn't recur.

A midfield duo of Vidal and Gundogan would be insane (and unlikely, at least the former anyway).

It's not often a club finds itself in our position though, and I think we have got the money available (but perhaps not as readily as the likes of PSG).

Mata's move to Utd has been delayed due to difficulties signing his contract. Supposedly all the pens at Old Trafford are *****.

:D
