Japanese Grand Prix 2010, Suzuka - Race 16/19

Just think Hamilton would be now if it wasn't for that DNF in Spain :o

Just think where webber would be had he not rammed the car from behind or Vettel lost him points.

Just think where Button would be had he not had Vettel lose him points or DNF at monaco.

Just think where Alonso would be had he not had a poor car with a dodgy engine for part of the season and both engine and gearbox woes.

Just think where Vettel would be now if he wasn't a ****.

you can accelerate better in 3rd from a slow corner than 4th which hamilton had to do from a hairpin into a long straight. so the difference would be greater.

Swings and roundabouts. At hairpins, Alonso would be at a disadvantage since he would not be able to pull away from the hairpin as someone who does have 2nd gear.

In Hamiltons case, he would be fodder for higher speed cars on straights.

So if there is any advantage to be had in either case, it would be marginal.

Furthermore, 2nd gear on one track could be a 4th gear on another track.

You are assuming that just because a person plays video games he must have good hand/eye coordination.

Mclaren's 2011 car is rumoured to replace the conventional steering wheel for a playstation controller.

Apparently it's better for twitch tracks where you need to deal out combo breakers.

I'm suprised nobody has mentioned their simulators. While there is no testing I sure that all the top drivers will have clocked up thousands of hours in the simulator, with their actual steering wheel. To suggest that playing PlayStation gives LH an advantage is moronic. All of the drivers will have amazing hand-eye coordination, they're F1 drivers for christs sake, and will have done enough simulator/track hours to be able to hit the required switches without even thinking about it.

Yep exactly.

Yet somehow because I have an analogue stick for steering, Right trigger for accelerate, LT for Brake, A for up shift and X for downshift and grand total of 5 functions this would make me a good fast button pusher on an F1 steering wheel.

Actually I have RB to change views as well and a Right analogue stick to look around, beat that Lewis.

i doubt very much that playing games makes hamilton better at pushing buttons, each driver uses 10+ buttons per lap i bet, u only just have that many on a console pad.

i think mclaren just had a better integrated system and hamilton is prob the best at getting everything out of a car, good or bad.

i think he used it better when overtaking rather than just on a lap because all the teams that use it worked out the most efficient places on the track to use it so that would be no different.

Even bettererer.... I have the ability to flashback. Beat that Lewis :D

I did a quick search to see if this has been posted yet and turned up nothing. If it's a repost then I apologise. But I thought this was both hilarious and absolutely great:
