Japanese Grand Prix 2012, Suzuka - Race 15/20

We can only wonder, given that we're six seasons into his F1 career and he shows precious few signs of improving in that department....

To be fair, even the oft-quoted Senna was a paranoid whiner to boot... bearing in mind this is the same person that Hamilton said he was inspired by.

Everyone is prone to the odd random childish outburst. Vettel did it a couple of times this year. Alonso whinged down the radio a few times a couple of years back. Button went off on one about one of the HRT's, etc.

Hamilton's do seem to be the most childish or stupid though. To the extent that his latest tweets weren't a mistake or a brain fart moment, they were a concious effort to use twitter to vent, knowing full well the kind of reaction it would get.

Either he thinks thats a good thing to do, which is stupid. Or he actually didn't realise the kind of reaction it would get, which is also stupid :p.

Hopefully he will be on his best behaviour at his new job for a bit, rather than being the kid that gets away with it in his comfortable McLaren role.

If he was run by a management company that could be bothered to help him other than making cash, they would take 99% of the social media out of his hands and post tweets etc for him to his fans. In the same way 'celebs' have ghost writers for that kind of pap. Perviously they would run websites for them and post messages and interviews.

There's really no need to keep lining himself up for this kind of thing.

Of course he's not the only one, every week there's a footballer or 10 making themselves look equally as stupid on twitter.

That is indeed :D

Yea it was Sutil, in Monza 2009 I think.

Bah, it was so long ago(for something minor) that I mixed up the germans... oh well, that was probably the only thing I thought I liked about Vettel. I want Sutil back now :(

Yeah, Kimi's I don't give a crap attitude is awesome, not because he puts it on, just because he really doesn't care, he'll doesn't sensor himself. Even last race when asked about the race he was, summing up basically " its a street race, its boring, the race sucked " , with that attitude of, ask me more questions and I won't give you the media friendly "i love this place" answers, so you better leave now :p

Finally got to see the highlights :D

Good little race, Kobayashi getting 3rd was quality, he's needed a result with Perez doing well with the same car this year and best weekend to do it.

Thought the Groejean stop go was a little harsh, Webber was dordling in the second corner badly and Groejean taking it at more like racing speed with nowhere really to go should really have gone down as a racing incident (though he could have just braked a little more and risked being rear ended).

Massa should have been performing like this all year to remove the doubt about where he will be next year.

why did the senna documentary not tell everyone about his blatant cheating or his whining after race press conferences?

Massa hasn't been bad most of the year, its been covered plenty of times but, a 3 tenth gap to Alonso isn't bad, but when Alonso is only getting 5-8th on the grid often, 3tenths back last year would be 1-2 places behind, this year it can be 5, even 10 places back. How many races this year have been grid processions(excluding mistakes). Has he had a great year, definitely not, but he's not been as bad as people have made out either. The further back you start the worse a race you'll have, the worse your pitstops will be and the more you'll lose to the tyres trying to overtake cars. Alonso will often ben in 4th-5th for a stint with a 3+ second gap to the guy infront, while Massa does a stint in 8th, with 7th/6th holding him up less than a second infront.

Sure the car is capable of the same speed Alonso has(we assume, assuming they have the same development parts every race), but not matching Alonso only suggests he's not as good as Alonso.

Anyway, also Grosjean, no, he went in WAY too fast, Webber wasn't dawdling, Grosjean was just going to fast, either way it doesn't matter. Webber was up the inside mostly and turning in, he had a guy on the outside, he had no where to go, the only option in there is slow down and play it safe. This is Grosjeans issue, he just piles in, he doesn't drive safely ever.

As people have said, 9 crashes in 14 races is INSANE, Massa was being a bit of a **** last year for hitting people and we're talking about 3-4 incidents, Maldonado we're talking about, 3-4 more serious issues, and a few minor ones over a couple seasons. 9 is mental, and the one a few races back was worse than anything Maldonado has done.

Everyone does stupid things, mistakes happen, 9 crashes isn't mistakes, its the way he drives, if he doesn't change basically instantly he shouldn't be in F1. Alonso did something completely stupid but I'm fairly sure it was a mistake, imagine if his car hasn't turned away as he came down the curb and he instead got ploughed into by another 10-12 cars, which came pretty much inches from happening. For Alonso its clearly not frequent, that was a one off and we might never see something like that again from him.

Grosjean the way he is, its only a matter of time before he pulls another Spa and the outcome is serious for someone.

Was an OK race, highlight for me was Fat john showing his incompetence once again. Seriously kick that guy out of F1 already, he's practically destroying the title race single handed.

I don't think anyone can catch vettel now, Alonso could probably have held on to his 29 point lead if he didn't have this DNF, but sadly wasnt to be.

Roll on 2013.

Superb stuff from RBR and Vettel.
He is now set fair to win the title.
If he achieves this, he will be a triple WDC, which puts him in the same bracket as Jackie Stewart, Ayrton Senna and Nelson Piquet Sr.

The guy is a great driver...not quite on Alonso's level...but then he does have the advantage of a consistently better car.

The year that Ferrari make a good car is the year that Alonso should break a stack of records currently held by Vettel and MSc.

I like to see the best sports people, credited with wins/titles (in any sport) and to see Alonso go year after year without a title is not pleasant to watch.

In any case, this year still has some twists and turns, however, Vettel has to be outstanding favourite.

I still believe McLaren have the best car...they just don't have Vettel or Alonso on their team and this is making the difference. If Hamilton doesn't get his setup wrong, I expect him to be the fastest and I expect to see him on pole in Korea.

5 GPs left.
125 points up for grabs.
Hamilton can still do something here, but he is up against the best engineering team in F1 and a young German driver determined to own every single record in F1.

Roll on Korea...

Alonso's move was pretty much the same as Grosjeans at Spa.

The different being that when Alonso did it, it's the first time this year he's made a mistake like that, and he took out only himself. When Grosjean did it it was first lap incident number 11,357, and he took out half the field.

I like this assessment.

Though I think Vettel will walk Korea, that track suits a car with great downforce, and strong traction.

Ferrari could possibly win Brazil, but it might be too late by then.

The US GP is anyone's guess. Really looking forward to that.

More childish and stupid than Vettel basically whining that the other guy wasn't letting him win, and asking his engineer to make it so he's winning? Hearing that from a double-WDC was the nadir of F1.
