I don’t think there could be any other outcome. Battling another driver, being unable to make the corner to skip the chicane to keep your position. It would have always resulted in having to give the position during a race or a 5s penalty. There were no other factors, Perez did not force him off or anything. If that was gravel his race would be over, you can’t just cut the corner and pretend it didn’t happen.
