Sky said something about as the race was restarted after a red flag they could award full points, no idea thoughFull race points. Eh?
He didn’t cut the corner though, he went wide and as Button said, Perez wasn’t making a move so you could argue no advantage given. It’s irrelevant though. Let’s see what Monday brings.
I'm not one to question anything F1 related but if this is a thing it seems daft.Sky said something about as the race was restarted after a red flag they could award full points, no idea though
Least it puts to bed all the fake world champion stuff, no matter where you stand in that, he’s been genuinely dominant this year.
Leaving track limits to gain an advantage would then apply, which also comes with a penalty. He clearly gained an advantage as he missed an apex and would have lost the place if he had slowed to make it.He didn’t cut the corner though, he went wide and as Button said, Perez wasn’t making a move so you could argue no advantage given. It’s irrelevant though. Let’s see what Monday brings.
So according to the rules, the points distribution for shorter race distances applies if the race didn't resume. It seems it did, so we've got full points...so Max Verstappen appears to be a two-time world champion! This confusion sums the day up, doesn't it?
I think we have to be careful in determining what are the rules, and then just blindly following what Sky commentators are telling us on the fly.So if they managed 2 laps after the red flag because of the time limit, they'd have done 4 laps but full points are awarded? Seems daft to me.
Jack Nicholls of BBC R5L said:We are almost pretty sure that Max Verstappen isn't world champion because the race did not get to full points. We haven't done more than 75% race distance. It's not full points. That is where the confusion lies.
Andrew Benson said:So, it seems Verstappen is champion. The regs say staggered points only comer in "if a race is suspended in accordance with Article 57, *and cannot be resumed*". The race was resumed, so the FIA says that means it's full points.
Suspect these regs will need clarifying again after this
Still no explanation
He won several races ago, just more confusion from the fiaWould whatever they say help you get over the fact he’s won though?
