pretty much says that people outside of saville have come out with allegations against other celebrities. Although unconnected still implies hes a dirty nonce
It may well be, but it may be "just" sexual assault. The article only specified that, so jumping to conclusions about it being against minors just seems off.

Because he was very popular and influential at the BBC, which decided to turn a blind eye.
He ceased to be influential and people finally felt it was safe to speak out.
Wow, he really made the most of it. Quite possibly he worst sex offender in British history. And the BBC covered up for him. Incredible.
But surely the police don't care about point 1.
What if they don't? If they don't have witnesses or people to come forward its almost impossible to build a case.

It all just seems most odd that people would now choose to come forward and voice what has happened to them in the past now he is dead.
This whole case is disturbing on many more levels than just a ring of pedo's who possibly abused their trust many years ago.

It would appear that until he died, there were rumours and several police investigations that didn't turn up enough evidence to do anything.
Nothing to do with ignoring it because he was popular, at least with the Police and the BBC, but rather that it's damned hard to do anything if you don't have any witnesses, and even the victims aren't coming forward, so all you have is rumours (in the case of the BBC), or allegations that were too tenuous to take more action on (in the case of the police)...
IIRC at least once a BBC producer did ask about the rumours, but couldn't do much as all it was, was rumours (no witnesses or victims).
Even after he died when the BBC started their investigation for a programme the evidence to go to air wasn't there (at least one witness's statement was very unreliable as she claimed that the CPS didn't prosecute because of age, and had a letter to prove it, but didn't provide the letter to the researchers*), the ITV programme however built on what the BBC one had done, and dug up more evidence/witnesses the BBC investigation didn't know about.
*And when even the Daily Mail admitted the letter was a fake.

My mind is open, to most things.
Unfortunately after 12 years of 9/11 ****, 50 years of fake moon landing rubbish, and hundreds of other ones, any site that is selling videos about the subjects tends to raise a large amount of suspicion in me.
Call me a cynic, but given the quality of the "proof" for most conspiracies, combined with the fact that there is a very profitable living to be made out peddling the fact the Queen is a Lizard (as can be seen in this exclusive low quality mpeg video, exclusively available here), yes I tend to be a little closed minded about such sites.
It tends to save a hell of a lot of my time for more important things like using a toothbrush to scrub the front path, or watching for signs that the squirrels in my back garden are really the secret masters of the universe.
Not to mention occums razer.
If we've got two scenarios.
In one the whole of the media in the UK AND the police are controlled by some elite bunch of criminals in order to protect a celebrity paedophile, and not one has dared speak out about it, until the brave Ickeites have taken up the torch (after the media has actually broken the story after investigations).
In the other :
There have been rumours that a celebrity was behaving in a manner that was illegal, but no one managed to put all the strands together, because witnesses and victims didn't come forward, and there was no system for most of that time, to share the information between say different police forces, so there was no pattern that investigators could find.
I would say the latter scenario is much more likely, given that it actually fits the facts, including that until relatively recently it was very hard for different police departments to share certain information over decades, let alone different police forces (due to things as simple as not having records of past complaints on computer).
