Job Vacancy: OcUK Product Content / Community Assistant

I think that just means an allowance for the train fare/fuel etc, not for actually re-locating.

yeah, but I'm flipping Whoppers, not Big Mac's.

I'm the mack daddy now.

Seriously though, there is opportunity starting at OcUK. My role prior to OcUK was team leader of a call centre, and since joining OcUK and then gaining my experience my salary now is more than doubled compared to my team leader role. So OcUK whilst may not be the best paid place to work, does indeed give you to opportunity to progress long term onto bigger and better things.

I probably wouldn't look at getting into marketing mate. :D

I am sure i read on one of these posts before, relocation packages could be provided if applying from far away?

This is from an old job vacancy.

Salary : Attractive Salary for right individual (Very attractive salary for more experience individuals)

That's also a management role rather than an entry level position.

That is my honest frank opinion.
Mind you my salary against my home rental was fair. My rent on a 4 bedroomed semi detached house is a bargain "my estate is all privately owned too". My rent is only £450 per month. If you shop about you really can find affordable housing to suit a budget. Maybe my kitchen could do with an update, its quite dated. Plain white tiles and the kitchen cupboard doors are fairly old, and the floor is old tiles which could do with replacing. But it's clean and everything works as intended etc. It's just fashion/design has progressed since this kitchen was fitted. Anyway the point is....

The house next door to me has just gone up for rent, as the old tenants just bought their first house. It's on the market for £625 per month, same house layout similiar interior quality I got a barain with mine.

Housing doesn't have to be expensive. Especially if you have time/chance to
search about.

Within 5 miles of OcUK

£415 per month - http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/property-40947862.html?showcase=true

£475 per month - http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/property-41585563.html?showcase=true

£500 per month - http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/property-28203321.html?premiumA=true

All of which are £500 per month or less.

Min wage = £1094 per month after tax.

So that leaves about £600 (based on £500 rent) for all other bills and food.
Lecky/gas - £80 per month
Council tax - £95 per month
Water - £15 per month
Food - £150 per month
Tv licence - £10 per month
Net/Phone - £20 per month

That leaves £230 per month as disposable income. Thats £55 per week.

Remember there is a bonus scheme too which equals 25% of your salary per year too (if the bonus scheme is the same still) so thats £57.50 extra too.

So almost £300 disposable income. Also if you do well you have the oppportunity for the odd payrise ongoing.
In 6 years of working at OcUK I had 5 payrises during that time. Only once was I promoted at OcUK though, so 4 were just for doing a good job.

Of course when I started as OcUK I wasn't on min wage, but this position now is more of a junior role now perfect for somebody 18-21 with no dependants. I have a 10 year old lad, and I'm 32 now. I was 26 when I started at OcUK with a wife and 4 year old lad.

If you present yourself well at an interview OcUK may offer you a little over min wage also.

I remember when I was 18 I was earning £700 a month after tax in my first job lol.

Also a few people who started at OcUK moved into a shared home to start with. With only £300 rent including all bills. So effectively they only paid £300 + food for their housing. So £550 in total, that would leave £550 per month disposable. If you prove yourself you can get a rise or two, and afford to rent properly.

^^ u forget one thing: the bedroom tax, petrol, car tax, car service, car insurance, Car MOT, house insurance

This is a junior job for someone in the local area, pushbike will suffice or public transport.

Were not holding a gun to anyones head here, saying you have to work for us on minimum wage, its a job opportunity which can open doors to bigger things. Some people can realise this for the opportunity it is, others are too narrow minded and just see minimum wage. Were part of a large European group now, we have even had staff re-locate to Germany as well, the opportunities are endless within our group or like I say it can open doors to new opportunities, only if you could realise this and see the bigger picture/opportunity.

Everyone starts somewhere, my first job was something like £9500 per year, was not even minimum wage at the time, when I joined OcUK I think I started on like 11k a year in technical sales. I'm not on 11k any more. :)

Someone told me it also working and out of working for rent affected on bedroom tax! (mortgage isn't affected by this)

Well I have a 4 bed house I rent. 1 is mine and the wifes, 1 is my sons. Other 2 are not used as bedrooms. I don't pay any tax on this. Nor would I ever!

EDIT - just checked and it only affects people on benefits - http://www.housing.org.uk/policy/welfare-reform/bedroom-tax

Also contents insurance for me and my families property costs me £9 a month, hardly earth shattering is it.

Just remember guys, when saying you started on x amount 10 years ago, that inflation has gone up in double or triple digits since then :)

I'm not saying anything bad about this position though, it's a start in a lovely company i'm sure.

all people moaning they cant get jobs on the news and such, this is the simplest job in the world. the fact is, people have unrealistic wage expectations in this current climate.

Shame we're literally opposite sides of the UK, otherwise I'd apply, I've been in different jobs, through agencies, and whilst only two of the many jobs i've had were IT, they were the best 6months work I've had.

Even if it was just I.T support, I just love working with computers, I was tasked at one point with setting up 200 Dell laptops with encryption software to be done within a week and even though it was repetitive and getting the required software off the server was slow....I still enjoyed it.

This, as I can see will secure you (hopefully) with a full time permanant job, these guys have contacts within most of the big name companies around...and As someone said earlier, its a foot in the door for a young person (Or maybe old) to start off their IT Career.

All I need now is for OcUK to expand there business and have a store in Wales :D
