Joe Rogan and Spotify

Beth Mole over at Ars Technica sure doesn't like him: https://arstechnica.com/science/202...efends-misinformation-like-a-classic-grifter/

Some fun in the comments section too.

I assume that the folks happy to have misinformation warnings on the Rogan's of the world would also be happy to have the same warnings applied to various articles written by the likes of the quoted reporter?

Had never heard of her previously but the very 1st article I click on is 'misinformation' - from early December the 'bed shortage in Pennsylvania due to covid' article for those interested. If you bother to drill down the real reason for the shortage was a staffing issue and an increase in procedures that had been previously delayed. Yes there was an increase in covid cases but they weren't the driving factor.

This is complete guff. None of this is happening, nobody is clamping down on "alternative views", these are not views but lies and misinformation. These are not ideas to be tested, it's not science, it's misinformation. It's distinctly different.

Do you get your bowels into a twist when you see "misinformation" everytime?

Feels like somewhere no matter what I'm reading somebody is on some crusade about...

Well, If you like being lied to....what a strange post.

Well maybe not his fault entirely but the 2008 banking crisis largely happened on his watch.

Right. The international banking crisis. This is a garbage opinion. Sorry. It's like blaming Johnson for COVID.

The Tory propaganda machine did a good job throwing this **** this to be fair, but I bet even they are amazed at how well it's stuck. And now they have the gall to harp on about political opportunism.

Anyone of my sort of vintage will remember the slot in Clive James’ TV show where he showed the output from “public access” TV where any old bod could spout whatever they wanted. It was hilarious. This is the same paradigm. It should be labelled as what it is - opinion.

Enough of that now. No idea why you thought that was a good thing to post but if I have to clean this thread up again the hammer is coming down.

Apparently Rogan is now racist, without giving any proof.

"I believe in freedom of speech. However, I find Joe Rogan problematic for reasons OTHER than his Covid interviews. For me it's also his language around race."
i've watched a lot of his podcasts - though usually in snippet form and i've yet to hear him use racist language. but maybe this paragraph from the article sheds a bit more light on why she's got her knickers in a twist.......Jealousy perhaps?
"What I am talking about is respect... [Spotify] paying musicians a fraction of a penny, and him $100m? This shows the type of company they are and the company that they keep."

Again, who decides what is misinformation?

As I mentioned before, a lot of things that were considered misinformation during this pandemic are now considered facts.

So who has the power to decide what are facts and what is misinformation?

Do you think masks help in stopping the spread of covid?

100%
We've been using them in the NHS since the NHS started to stop the spread of diseases, how can they not work unless you're not using them properly?
Even Florence Nightingale knew what they did.
For around 20 months I didn't know one person who got a cold because of masks including me.
If you have definite proof with your Facebook research that masks don't stop the spread of diseases we could save a fortune in the NHS.

In the world you want we'd have no conversations about a subject because everyone would be sat nodding. No questioning would be allowed. The moment someone questions the narrative its assumed they are a crazy CT.

Someone as put a trigger warning on the book 1984.. unironically.

University of Northampton's trigger warning on George Orwell's 1984

Fictional books, films and tv series, used to be the way social issues were portrayed to spark debate. But now every subject is becoming overly sensitive that its no wonder we've got dumbed down media.

The way society is going it seems they want us all to be like Joey from TOWIE, knows nothing about everything
