Joe Rogan and Spotify

Ah yeah hook line and sinker that - clearly saying don't wear masks because they don't work isn't it :cry::cry:

The final line you've included in your quote is the qualifier that low-intellect people aren't able to pick up on.

“In terms of the hard evidence and what the UK Government recommends, we do not recommend face masks for general wearing by the public.”

That advice didn't change?

Question was about what misinformation, at the time, is now regarded as fact. Maybe get some answers in the morning. Could be 5G related.....

General Mask use during a pandemic of an airborne virus is quite ******* obviously a good idea, it was actually a flat out lie. I read in February it was airborne while we were being told to just wash our hands

I did my own research when the pandemic first started as I didn't believe the governments stance on them. I listened to doctors in Asia who had extensive experience with this sort of thing.

They could have told people to make their own if they were worried about shortages. Not, perfect, but better than nothing.

So with your own research are you concluding that the masks we wear in the NHS since we started do nothing?
This is a big deal.

Just let people say whatever they want and if you disagree with something that's been said then put forward a better argument, job done.

In an ideal world that would work perfectly. This isn't an ideal world and its a world that has just been going through a major health crisis. When you have as much influence as Joe Rogan (whether people should treat him as such is a whole other question) then you should act with a certain amount of responsibility, unless you want to go down the Alex Jones route. Asking him to be more responsible on matters of health and make people aware that what they hear shouldn't be taken as gospel doesn't hurt his free speech and it certainly isn't cancelling him.

Society, especially in the US is disappearing up its own arse. Yes both sides can be as bad as each other but its getting so out of hand that they are facing a crossroads. It won't take much more to tip it over and some very bad things to happen. If that happens there we and Europe won't be immune to the fallout. No country is safe from its society collapsing, it just needs a large enough group to no longer believe its serving them.

Tosh, nobody is suggesting any of that or doing it. This is delusional in the extreme. Someone needs to lay off the alt facts.

I've not promoted any opinion. Just all opinions should be heard in order to have a conversation.

You do realise some "facts" change?

You make a good point here. I think the problem in the US is people are geographically too far away from each other. So its very easy to become entrenched in a position and not be challenged. British people live closer together and we don't shy away from debating each other.

I think if there were less focus on the US being the centre of the earth and bring it back to UK/EU we'd get a lot more sensible conversations going, in my humble opinion of course :)

Yer right lads, it was total misinformation. We should de-platform the government.

This was during the time Boris thought it was a jolly good idea to go around the covid patients shaking their hands and ultimately caught it himself, but it's before they thought it was a good idea to throw parties while telling everybody to stay at home and do no socialising

Masks are a pretty obvious one... supposedly they worked in hospitals but when used by the ordinary plebs they magically stopped working. Oh and then later they do work but you don't need anything fancy, not recommending the N95 style ones... But then Omicron comes along and cloth masks might not be so great after all etc..

Total and utter joke, stems not just from supply issues (they could have been upfront and honest about that if it were the case) but also just being in denial that the virus is airborne. Naive belief that aerosol-generating procedures in hospitals require N95s but that it's just droplets we need be concerned about elsewhere, basic masks will do etc..

Before that WHO was even in denial about person-to-person transmission, these days WHO and various governments are still downplaying airborne transmission - upgrading filtration in buildings, fresh air etc.. ought to be a priority but is still undervalued.

The lab leak thing was treated as a conspiracy too yet only later did people start to acknowledge it was a possibility... again what a coincidence, there was a lab in Wuhan conducting gain of function research on coronaviruses. That was deliberately downplayed/dismissed back in 2020.

All this is missing the point, Joe Rogan isn't a "danger".

Chael Sonnen sums up the Rogan situation well, however may be offensive to some as it's an alpha male discussing the topic, so will no doubt be filled with many "alt right misinformation" humdingers.

Are you drunk? lmao.

The government told people not to wear masks, they said they weren't effective, then they changed their mind. So someone saying masks were effective would have been peddling misinformation, except that is now widely regarded as fact. I'm not sure anyone can make that more clear.

Yes but we had/have a PM who is a ******* idiot. A man who refused to stop shaking hands and visited a hospital with coved patients and subsequently caught covid and ended up in hospital. Clearly advice being handed out was in part from a political point of view and not just from what the best science of the time said. That is on us for electing such incompetent leaders. Much like in the US their problem with electing Trump in a time of a pandemic where every move had to be considered politically rather than just scientifically and he flat up refused o wear a mask and kept throwing events at the WH, catching covid himself and ending up in hospital. Even after that he rarely ever worse a mask.
I would have no problem deplatforming this government, they've proved they aren't in any way competent, are corrupt and do not deserve our trust or respect.

The issue with masks as I understood it wasn't that they were ineffective, it was that an untrained and lax general public were not going to handle, replace, clean them etc. to a rate that was required to be effective in the first place. Most people stuff them in their pocket, touch them, rarely clean them etc. which it could be argued that made them worse than wearing no mask at all. Then throw in the homemade cloth rubbish many are using and it's nothing more than an aesthetic prop.

In that clip the presenters were saying treat Americans like adults, say masks work but please don't buy them because they are required for health workers and front like workers such as police. The problem is the public won't behave like that. People feel entitled and will still go and purchase masks, some will purchase all they can and then try and sell them at massively inflated prices. You are asking for civic responsibility in a nation that puts the individual first and screw the ones below me.
