Joe Rogan and Spotify

Ivermectin, 'horse' de-wormer or not, is still an anti-parasitic de-worming drug. For those on the club scene, ketamine was still known as horse tranquiliser regardless of its use in humans.
That's true, however some drugged up clubbers calling ket horse traq isn't quite the same as media purposely ignoring the human use of a drug just to discredit someone

They are discrediting the use of a de-worming drug to treat COVID, yes. Because COVID isn't a parasitic worm. It is absolutely stupid and deserves the hilarious backlash it received.

Lots of low IQ people listen to Joe Rogan so it is dangerous for him to prescribe drugs.

My point is that they should have been able to just discredit him by stating facts (such as there being absolutely no evidence it works to treat covid) but instead chose the route of 'lets just make him look mental instead'

Have you ever seen the videos of, for example, Trump supporters being challenged with facts? It doesn't work, these kind of things are dangerous cults of the gullible.

Its the same on here, there are knowledgeable posters posting facts and figures, the loons are not interested, they will deflect to the next loony crap they fixate on from the latest QAnon/Rogan/Facebook post.

Yeah, there’s never been any large corporations funding scientific research who didn’t have an expectation as to the outcome of the research being favourable for their latest product.

Of course. I guess a vaccine against a deadly pandemic is all just a big conspiracy.

Joe Rogan used to be far more interesting but he has gone down the well trodden path of starting to believe your own **** and with todays stats driven approach to "engagement" he has gone exactly where he needs to go in order to maximise his profits.

There is a reason why Facebook, Twitter etc have all cultivated a divisive, toxic and confrontational environment. It makes them the most money. One side laps it up and thinks they are sticking it to the man and the other side hates it because they see the damage its doing. There is no place for reasoned debate when it comes to the masses. Satire has been making jokes about this for years. People want 5s soundbites and hot takes they can parrot to their mates, not reasoned debates that take time and effort to process. People want "the right" answer, even when there is no such thing.

Life's too short his viewers don't read / read rebuffals - Spotify as a publisher need to review material and be legally obligated not publish lies,
doesn't spotify come under Ofcom remit in the UK - fine them.

e:

Why have you made a thread about something you know very little about then?
200million people downloading junk - seems reasonable for anyone to be concerned

The BBC have just had a pop at Dr John Campbell too. Claiming he said stuff that he didn't and fact checking him. Slanderous really.
Johns alright but its amazing that despite what he says in his videos he has somehow attracted a weird anti-vax audience all because he's covering stuff the papers just dont want to pick up. Like the dude isnt anywhere near the spectrum of anti-vax.

As for Joe - hes a clown, a very rich clown and his vaccination stance isn't the first time hes said something dumb.

If you don't like it don't listen/watch. People that do watch can just make up their own minds if he's talking nonsense or not. Those advocating that he should be censored are ridiculous.

The trouble with "people making up their own minds" is that you end up with a ludicrous situation like the US election, where 40% of the population do not believe Biden won

I'm not saying he should be censored, but certainly correcting false information isn't a bad thing to be doing.

Its not about not liking it. Its about misinformation being dangerous(arguably) to the gullible. The US is now ungovernable due to misinformation, from the actual President(ex).

because I guess this was just a jumping off point about things in general as a general observation that people do not want to hear anything other than what they believe these days (I’m not saying anti vax is right btw) they just want their echo chamber views confirmed and anything else (speaking generally not just about vaccines).

Rogan himself isn't short on controversial "views" over the last couple of years so its no surprise he'd be having these crazy people on the show. Spotify's response is the path of minimal effort. As far as they are concerned cancelling Rogan means losing those dollars, so a brief message at the start is what they have gone with.

The whole thing is a shambles these days when this sort of thing comes up. The fact that corporations give airtime to conspiracy idiots is mind boggling, all because of losing out on some sales. These businesses do not care one bit about human safety.
