Joel, Jim & Jassim - Utd Ownership

Not the ideal cards to be holding though, you're paying a senior staff member a lot of money to do nothing :p

It doesn't sound like Newcastle have even utilised him properly, you can just find someone else who will suit your structure better. I don't think it's that big of a deal.
I take Newcastle hand any day of the week. Manu facing 3-4 transfer windows with their key figure they want to lead recruitment benched.

That’s a royal flush.

Depends what happens, I think we'll see a solution much earlier. I would probably just pay it, look at the money we've fluffed on players, this is a comparatively small amount.

The problem is both clubs will want to be seen as winning the situation and not being bent over, which is why I see it dragging on for a weeks to months.

You lot are nuts, there is no way he’s going to sit and twiddle his thumbs until Jan.

It’s probably going to be a couple of weeks but this will be settled and finalised in before April and certainly before the season finishes.

INEOS ain't ******* around, they're moving at pace (Jim ain't no spring chicken, he wants to see his boyhood club booming before he drops) and all the announcements that have came since the deal was agreed shows that.

I'm shuck we've actually got him... i can't see it being months, it'll be a matter of days I reckon when we'll here of an agreement.

He'll be starting for us within a couple of months or sooner, as someone said earlier, to think INEOS haven't known and thought all this through before making their move is mental.

I get Newcastle fans are a little miffed but the delusion of some of them to think INEOS have gone "We want him...what do you mean we have to wait 2 years? Oooooh ok then :(" is amusing.

I mean, if this was the Glazers thats exactly how it would go. Then we would panic mid August and give them £30m for him.

Nah, we'd leave it so late he'd go somewhere else and then we'd panic buy and hire Eric Djemba-Djemba in to the role

This will clearly end up in a compromise. Ultimately we might as well just extract what value we can from the situation. Doesn't make sense to pay his wages for 2 years. I assume the key question is whether he starts before or after the summer window closes.

Yep. A fair deal is one where neither party is happy. :p

Of course it will. Newcastle just starting negotiations from a high position, dunno what anyone else would expect them to do. Some of the comments here are just daft.

It’s the arrogance that’s makes me laugh, the way they think we should just roll over and have our bellys tickled, because it’s manu that come knocking.

That's not happening though. It's just certain fans on both sides overreacting, as always.

In this instance, we've poached him from Brighton with the allure of a more exciting, bigger scale project. Man Utd are doing the same to us, with the added element that he gets to work with his mate Brailsford. I am not taking it personally as an NUFC fan. Let's extract what cash we can to help with FFP, and move on.
