Joel, Jim & Jassim - Utd Ownership

There’s no way we’ll wait 2 years with how quickly INEOS are moving. Something will be agreed even if we don’t want to pay the £20m

Looking at him, he looks the sort to have artificial grass. It's going to be a boring 2 years of gardening.

Just like any sensible person.

£20m is a lot though. Especially if we aim to destroy any FFP rules with clearing our deadwood.
As mentioned above. I imagine there’ll be a deal worked out where he just sits silently advising in the background.

Yes, I was joking although it wouldn't shock me if Newcastle insisted on a deal that prevents him starting work for multiple months. If Utd are as smart as Liverpool/Newcastle as stupid as City then Ashworth could provide Utd staff with the login details for Newcastle's scouting system while he's trimming his astroturf.

Liverpool had to pay City £1m after we stole a few of their scouts and we logged into City's scouting system in the summer of 2012 while they were on gardening leave. We ended up signing Joe Allen, Fabio Borini and Oussama Assaidi - City should have had to pay us £1m!

In your location, certainly.

Yup pay big or wait two years. Simple.

Also there’s no way he’s not going to have any gardening leave with an important transfer window incoming.

The annoying thing is, United actually look to be getting things in order now. I hope the days of spending the entire summer budget on players like Anthony and Onana. The last minute loan deals for Ighalo. Links to players that just clearly aren’t good enough like Arnatovic aren’t over. That’s been one of the funniest parts.

If you think he is going to sit there and do nothing you are delusional. He is already looking at the club this very moment I can bet you.

He’s already been locked out of the systems and passwords removed, I think every man and his dog learned from what Liverpool did to city

This is quite amusing. Do people really think that INEOS & co haven't already spoken to Ashworth over the past few weeks? They will have already analysed his contract. I'm sure Ashworth himself knows how it works too.

It doesn't help Newcastle either, holding a member of staff to ransom and trying to delay their career - what kind of message does that send out to the football world? If you don't like it here, you're stuffed and can't leave?

As it stands, Newcastle are just paying him for nothing, and he is probably advising Brailsford in private anyway - you can't stop that.

This will get settled for £6-10m I expect, with him being able to start work fairly soon.

Nuh uh, its definitely either £20m or 2 years sitting on his hands. They definitely won't do what happens all the time and agree a compromise.

If he goes for 6m, we effectively lose him for nothing, as that's what we still owe Brighton I believe.

Opps sorry, meant to quote Robbo :p

Simon Stone at the BBC says - "Newcastle believe they will be within their rights to ask Manchester United for a fee well in excess of £10m."

So given he cost Newcastle £6m, and has £2m left on his contract (?), I think £8m is pretty fair...

He might go for £15m, who knows. Some of our resident Magpies are very sure that he will either be on gardening leave for his full term or we will pay the full release clause.

As much as I'd love to see us come out on top of this situation, I cannot see it. Gardening leave is a joke these days and it will be worked around easily. I think it'll be the 6m we owe and probs another 5 on top.

They know there's no use keeping someone who doesn't wanna be there on full pay when we are in such a crap situation with money anyway. plus what are we gonna do tap his phone? put him under 24/7 cctv haha
