Joel, Jim & Jassim - Utd Ownership

I’ll wait until I can read some stuff from the athletic but I’m wondering what class of shares he will be getting with the whole clause when the family sell them.

May have 25% but close to 2.5% of the voting rights

There's no way Ratcliffe would have entered into a deal where he's bought 25% of the club with no rights or future guarantees.

It'll be interesting to see further details...

Take your mmoney and leave you leeches.. You're worrying about money you didn't even have to buy the club in the first place.

If you can ignore the moral aspects it would lead to refurbishment of areas of the club that have been left to rot. Most (including myself) can't do that though. Also as we've seen with PSG there is no guarantee of success.

It really is. Then you talk about an asset being worth supposedly >5bn there aren’t may people who can afford that and those that can will have baggage regardless.

We also talk about morals, we are basically saying all Qataris are the same look at the stuff going on in America with race, abortion etc
I'm sorry but this is nonsense. Whatever you think about Ratcliffe's political views etc, he's not a human rights abuser on a mass scale like the state of Qatar are. As for the American whataboutery, 'America' don't own nor are trying to buy a football club. This Qatar bid, regardless of what they say in public (just like City btw) is state backed. You say Qatar bid was interested in making the club a success - they aren't. They're interested in using the club for the reputational and political gain.

I'd rather that then bleed the club dry and not invest in the club. I think it is cheap to talk about Qatari morals but fail to look at the Glazer's and how they basically bought United on a interest only mortgage which afaik you cannot do now?

We have a horrible past (United Kingdom) and the Qatari's maybe behind the west in their views but there is nothing to say they cannot change or do not want to change. It is not all black and white.

Having the Glazer's still at United is still as bad as it can get. I don't think any club in the Prem has as bad owners as us.

This obviously comes as a massive relief to Liverpool fans as it helps them that we are under constant handicap with the Glazer's

You really are a strange fellow sometimes, do you honestly think people's objections are about football rivalry?

I can guarantee the scousers would welcome with open arms an unlimited money cheat. They say everything against it to be "morally" correct but deep down they would be happy as Larry.

It is pretty obvious from Klopps venting that he hates not being able to spend what he wants.

Man Cities owners have done more to the city of Manchester and the community in their little finger than the Glazer's have ever done. Which ones are the bad ones again?

Nope

Hates it so much that he recently signed a contract extension?

Yes, I know you're only interested in who will allow you to spend more money Adam. And I'm not sure you can say we fail to look at what the Glazers are doing - it's been discussed at length for many years and most people agree that football clubs, despite being businesses, shouldn't be treated like any old business and purchased through debt. However it is neither an illegal nor immoral practice - it's a perfectly normal way in which businesses are bought and Man Utd positioned themselves as a business when they floated on the stock exchange to raise funds. The end result of that was that the Glazers were able to buy up a big chunck of Utd and then a full takeover.

And you're right, there's nothing to say the Qatari's cannot change and when they do I'll have one less objection to them buying a football club. I fundementally disagree with states purchasing football clubs regardless of their human rights records however - football clubs shouldn't be political tools.

Some certainly would however Thaksin Shinawatra's attempts at investing the equivalent of £600m in today's money into Liverpool was met huge opposition many years ago due to issues around human rights and corruption.

Not invest? Where have you been the last 5 years. How many times have you hyped your own team up pre season based on your signings. Its a OCUK meme ffs.
