As for the American whataboutery, 'America' don't own nor are trying to buy a football club. This Qatar bid, regardless of what they say in public (just like City btw) is state backed. You say Qatar bid was interested in making the club a success - they aren't. They're interested in using the club for the reputational and political gain.

And I'm not sure you can say we fail to look at what the Glazers are doing - it's been discussed at length for many years and most people agree that football clubs, despite being businesses, shouldn't be treated like any old business and purchased through debt. However it is neither an illegal nor immoral practice - it's a perfectly normal way in which businesses are bought and Man Utd positioned themselves as a business when they floated on the stock exchange to raise funds. The end result of that was that the Glazers were able to buy up a big chunck of Utd and then a full takeover.
Some certainly would however Thaksin Shinawatra's attempts at investing the equivalent of £600m in today's money into Liverpool was met huge opposition many years ago due to issues around human rights and corruption.
