Joel, Jim & Jassim - Utd Ownership

Whilst not on the scale of Qatar, Ratcliffe has worked and therefore profited from the oil and gas industry, wants to do fracking and has also worked in Private Equity. Hardly the signs of a saint. Again, not to say it's comparable. Ineos also got fined for dumping waste where they shouldn't have.

Yes, I know you're only interested in who will allow you to spend more money Adam.

Unfortunately it is what wins you titles in football.

You can go back all the way to Forest to Blackburn, Chelsea and now to City. You do have the odd anomalies like Klopp and Ferguson who can build teams but it is very rare and normally money is king.

To pretend football is this pure level playing field is just delusional and they should go and watch the lower leagues if that is what they want.

It's not worked for Utd in the past decade.

No but the law of averages shows that it does. United is very unique as they have nothing to show for all that money spent because of how poorly ran it is. Lukaku, Pogba, Di Maria is quarter of a billion. All gone. KDB has existed at City during all of those purchases. City have spent the same but have bought very well in comparison and no one is close to them.

Surely the law of averages would have meant Utd would have won at least one title in the past decade. Nobody, not even City, has spent as much as them over that period.

Law of averages when comparing high spending teams. You can be run as badly as United and spend poorly for ten+ years. Nothing will change in that regard. Everton are no different to us really.

Saw the news when waking up and felt genuinely gutted

Ratcliffe is an idiot. There’s a reason clubs have turned him down in the past. Look at what’s happened with Nice.

Club will just remain where it’s been. Nothing will change. Old Trafford will have some plasters put over it, debt will remain, behind the scenes will remain a mess.

I’m not going to go as far as Goldbridge and the likes and say it’s the end of the club, but it’s effectively sentenced us to a further decline for another 5 years+

Someone hasn't looked at the Ligue 1 table :D

Ha 8 games in…

They did terribly last year. And it’s the general state of the club doesn’t seem to be great for one being owned by a billionaire
They've been doing pretty much as expected but when things went badly they changed their structure and hired a new DoF who is doing well. Who does that not sound like?

Yeah true, I mean if he comes in, forces us to hire a new DoF and some other behind the scenes changes then that’s an easy way to please the fans

But I really don’t think he’s going to have much of a say, if any, for 25% of ownership. I think we’ll not see any of his changes come in until he has a majority ownership, however far down the road that is

How would that be any different to how its handled now? They give free reign of transfers etc to whoever is DOF/ETH so why wouldnt they hand it over?

No they don't. They blocked the sale of Martial for example when Jose was in charge and only authorised the purchase of Antony/Casemiro after we lost our opening games of the season. Also our DoF does not seem to have any impact on the way the club is run, all decisions seem to be made by ETH who is a DoF, scout and manager in one at the moment. A competent owner wouldn't allow that.

Just had a look at the man utd thread around the time maureen wanted to sell martial, the majority of man u posters would have rather got rid of the manager over the player, you lot would have been thanking the board for 'blocking' any sale!! Love a bit of revisionism me :p

You can't just be learning that fans don't know how to run a club. I didn't want Martial sold but only because I knew Mourinho would want to bring in another aging footballer on a huge fee that wouldn't improve us. Again this was all made possible because we had no DoF, just a banker making transfer decisions and a ****** in charge.

The simple fact is that an owner who doesn't know the first thing about football shouldn't be making decisions on transfers.

I think any suggestion that the board blocked a sale of Martial is misleading at best. The reality is nobody has ever been willing to sign him for an amount Utd could justifiably accept.
