Joel, Jim & Jassim - Utd Ownership

It's quite the achievement from the Glazers in terms of managing expectations that a minority sale, securing the Glazers long term ownership and giving football control to a man that has performed terribly at Nice is considered good news and a present to fans.

The only positives to take from this is that there's money to repair the roof at Old Trafford and at worst, Ratcliffe can't do any worse than the Glazers in terms of running the football side of things.

It's not good or bad news really, it's just news. We have no say in what happens, the fans have protested against the Glazers fairly consistently and they simply don't care.

The good news is that we've avoided becoming a sportswashing front for Qatar. Yes, I know that potentially has its own benefits, but it's not ideal.

As you say, they can't really do any worse, but Jean-Claude Blanc and Brailsford is an infinitely more enticing prospect than more garbage under the Glazers - to me, at least.

Rob the champion of Christmas spirit. Who'd have thought it.

I don't think Ratcliffe coming in will make much difference.

It will make a huge difference, but what sort of a difference remains to be seen.

I think the biggest factor is it also gives them a massive excuse of ‘well, we have nothing to do with the football side of it’ when it completely fails. Theres far too many jokers at high level within the club.

Worth a read. It’s an incredible read. It’s like a guide on how not to run a football club.

That is what the Glazers do anyway? They really don't care. As long as the commercial side of the club churns over plenty of money, they are happy.

INEOS will look to restructure the entire football side of the club, whether they succeed or not remains to be seen, but it's a big change and hopefully a good thing.

Ratcliffe must be keen on making an impact, this is a complex deal and an absolutely mammoth task - probably the most difficult in football currently. A lot of people didn't really know who he is, and now he'll be slagged to the high heavens if it goes wrong.

Newcastle are a good example of how you can aggressively change things quickly, and positively. I am expecting a similar approach here.

Good to see the new people in charge. I have a lot more confidence in Brailsford and SJR than the Glazers and people like Woodward, that's for sure. A big and difficult job though.

The article says -

Along the same lines, Newcastle United's Dan Ashworth is currently reluctant to go to Old Trafford, due to the scope of his role at St James' Park.

It is understood the Manchester club would have to go very high with a financial offer and well-defined terms to tempt him.

Delaney isn't particularly knowledgeable though.

I don't think any concrete offers will have been made yet, INEOS won't be in official control for another 3-4 weeks at least. I am very hopeful Brailsford will get the right people in place, Jean-Claude Blanc is very experienced too (the new CEO). A huge change from the likes of Ed Woodward making a mess of things.

Not that it can’t change but Ashworth stated back in Nov that he wast the man for Manu.

It will take an extremely large amount of money to remove him from the Toon job unless he wants to spend a year or two gardening!!

Imagine all those billionaires and all those people to run a club and a little old red nosed Scottish bloke did it all himself :p. It does make you realise he was cut from a different cloth.

He had people helping him and football was a far far far simpler business back then. Especially as the United manager.
