Joel, Jim & Jassim - Utd Ownership

well, the local populace kicked off to the golf course owners yesterday afternoon when the story broke. Apparently there were talks but they were miles apart on valuation (typical Man Utd!) and the course is close to being sold to another golfing organisation.

It's a standard Daily Mail article trying to find outrage where there isn't any.
Its in every major paper and a lot of sites, wasn't isolated to Daily Mail.

It's a nothing story and it's certainly not going to "bring all sorts to the area".

There might be a few people who come to watch them train and a few journalists. Most of the staff working there will have to travel in from less affluent areas.

It's typical NIMBY ****.

Jassim allegedly taking legal advice after claims he didn’t provide proof of funds when bidding for Unite.

Not sure what Jassim can expect if claims are proven to be in error.

Sounds more like sloppy seconds than anything else.

Why would we want someone who has been involved with basically cheating?

I assume because he is good at what he does. Not gonna lie, my moral yardstick for what bothers me when it comes to United and football in general sits a way away from this.

I'm sure we wouldn't hire someone who was about to get massively caught up in City's cheating scandal either. We wouldn't would we? :p

We 110% would

Omar is Chief Football Operations Officer for City Football Group. He is a C-suite sports executive with expertise in the management of club business and football operations, including player transactions, sponsorship and media rights with 20 years of senior-level experience in the football industry and 5 years in the telecommunications sector. Omar has extensive experience in managing football club operations, through both his time as Manchester City’s COO and his current role as City Football Group‘s Chief Football Operations Officer. He also has a proven track record in negotiating with major global brands and companies, having delivered multi-million-pound sponsorship and media-related contracts for FC Barcelona and Manchester City. Omar’s personal background is quite diverse and international; having lived in 6 different countries with a fluent command of four languages has helped him develop an extensive global network of industry contacts.

For his current role, Omar is responsible for managing and optimising group football operations for almost 100 teams across 11 clubs on 5 continents, managing several departments across CFG including player transactions, data analytics, sports science and scouting in order to develop talent, maximise on-pitch performance and generate value for the group. He has also represented Manchester City and the Group in multiple governing bodies (such as the European Clubs Association and the Women’s Superleague FA board). Before the actual role, Omar was COO for Manchester City Football Club. In this role, he was responsible for all business aspects of the club; reporting to the City Football Group CEO and working in close collaboration with the Football Director in relation to the club’s football operations (including player contracts and transfers).

Prior to this role as COO, Omar was SVP – Group Commercial Director, forming part of the Group’s Executive Leadership Team and reporting to the board on a quarterly basis. His remit included leading the commercial department across the global organisation by overseeing 4 business units: Partnership Sales, Partnership Activation, Retail & Licensing, and Tours. The SVP role focused on creating the vision and building a global commercial department that now has a presence in over 10 cities on 5 continents.

Omar worked at FC Barcelona as the Head of Sponsorship and Senior Media Business Development Manager, during a very successful era for the Catalan club and prior to that, he worked in the telecommunications sector with the companies Tiscali and World Online.

Seems quite experienced. I just hope he isn't bringing any baggage along.

The Premier League has approved Sir Jim Ratcliffe's proposed bid to buy a minority stake in Manchester United, the club said.

That's sorted then. Onwards...

I hope we'll hear from Ratcliffe formally soon, I think he'll be keen to engage with the fans.

Edit :: FA approval still pending.

No agreement has been reached for the 52-year-old to embark upon the potential switch and any move for him will not be straightforward, given he is contracted to Newcastle.

However, the situation is expected to develop rapidly, with Ashworth thought to be open to the opportunity of joining the Manchester United football structure under INEOS.

This would be great. Wasn't sure it would happen, still might not...
