John Terry Racism Trial

Terry will be charged for using abusive language with reference to skin colour, exactly like Suarez was. The context be used it does not matter one bit to the FA, he has admitted speaking the words under oath, so he will be charged for it now. Its a cut and dried case, far clearer than the Suarez case. If they don't ban him for saying ******* black **** then they themselves will appear racist. Banning a foreigner for using the word negro but letting off an Englishman for saying FBC? Its not going to happen.

The only questions remains how long will the ban be and can he salvage his England career?

That's pretty much how I see it. His only defence is that he wasn't being abusive or insulting.

Which is unlikely considering he uses the words during a confrontation which both have recounted involving wife shagging banter etc etc.

Zzzz

Just ban players from using twitter already.
From a clubs perspective it would make sense but from our perspective it's amusing seeing these numbskulls embarrass themselves in public and it's a money making scheme for the FA. Just let the players be themselves and rake in the fines :D

I don't think he knew it was racist.

If he did, then he's arguably the dumbest person ever.

If he didn't know it was racist, he's arguably the dumbest person ever.

So either way he's definitely one of the dumbest people ever.

Whilst it's "possible" he didn't know exactly what it meant, it's far, far, far away from probable.

And if he didn't, like I said earlier. I think we'd see an entirely different reaction from him if it was himself on the receiving end. I doubt he'd have much difficulty working it out then.

It's a stretch, imo - I think it's fair to say most people understand what choc-ice/coconut/etc mean. What other interpretation is there?!

The explanation he gave is this:

What I said yesterday is not a racist term. Its a type of slang/term used by many for someone who is being fake. So there.

Are you saying it's impossible that he could have thought that? Even if you think it's unlikely.

I remember Suarez apologists being lambasted, but it seems Rio can do no wrong :o.

Typical, why did you add that in? How have I implied he can do no wrong? It's just your usual, laughable nonsense.

There isn't another interpretation that is believable.

Looks like the Rio defence team is already on the case. :D

How's a choc-ice fake? The only way in which it's 'fake' is the black on the outside, white on the inside explanation. I literally can't think of anything else.

I don't know. I hadn't actually heard that term being used before.

I just posted what his defence was, not that I thought he was being honest. He may well have known exactly what it meant, in which case he's a moron.

Sigh. What rubbish.

More likely that he knew exactly what it meant, but didn't consider it offensive.

Sounds very familiar. 8 match ban fair enough?

Do I sense a bitter Liverpool fan?

I doubt an 8 match ban would be applicable here, as it wasn't on the pitch (I imagine on the pitch face to face behaviour is considered worse than Twitter, but who knows, it's the FA).

Here are the remarks in question:

Footballers, as entertaining as they are on Twitter should just leave it well alone, or at least have a social media person vet each tweet they make! Rio isn't bad just opinionated, whereas Rooney & Ashley Cole (and others) capability to form an legible sentence is, well, limited and sometimes extremely embarrassing. :p

However, with regards to the FA, would they be able to charge him with misconduct had he said it in a paper or magazine?
