The complaint was made by a member of the public and the footage was seen by millions of people. My son will soon be old enough to come to games with me and the family section of Loftus Road is in earshot of where the alleged incident happened. I do not want my son to be exposed to racial abuse at football games and think it's 'normal' for England's captain to do so. I would have complained as well if I had heard it (I sit at the opposite end of the ground at the moment) and I'd be extremely disappointed if the Police didn't think it was a crime when I did so.
They've both thirty-one (although Gerrard's a bit older). Why would Scott Parker be okay for inclusion, if you're ruling out Gerrard?![]()
So why not go for Parker now then rather than Gerrard?![]()
Short term measure to keep some level of continuity before going to Euro 2012. The long term view needs to be taken after the finals and not before. How would you do it?
What about non-racial abuse? If one footballer calls another a swear word, should that be something the police get involved with too? Should footballers be banned from swearing in case your son hears? Serious questions.
Nope, I am under no impression that he will hear swearing, as I did when I was a kid. The best thing I can do to mitigate it while he is young is to sit in the family area. This is something that has moved on leaps and bounds in the past 20 years though with more family friendly areas available at grouns.
With regards to racist insults I'm afraid you'll just have to accept that in the real world calling someone a ****ing **** is quite far removed from calling them a ****ing black **** which we all saw Terry do on the Sky coverage.
