Josep Guardiola: is he actually a good manager?

Quite a young team still isn't it that Barcelona one? A few players are in their 30s like Puyol, Xavi and Abidal is it? Rest are what mid 20s? Still got quite a lot of time left. Plus they keep churning out players like no tomorrow.

The biggest trouble with La Liga isn't just the fact that those 2 teams dominate the £, I swear I heard that 50% of Spain support one or the other! That is insane. I have no idea what the figures are in this Country but surely no where near as dominant are vastly more spread out I would imagine?

Yep Thiago (21), Busquets (23) & Fabregas (24) are going to be in that midfield for a long time. Wouldn't surprise me if they bring in Martinez over the summer as well, if not to complement the midfield then to sure up their defence :(

If there was a chance to get him for under £200m, I think City would have a go.

:D

Not necessarily. The Ronaldo £80m was before the financial fair play rules kicked in. If £80m was the ceiling price for a player, pre-FFP... it could be lower, now.
No - one knows how FFP is actually going to work yet, for instance the "Etihad" sponsorship deal (that is WAY above current market rates), so its impossible to know

Considering Ronaldo is classed as a bargain at 80m, I think they'd want considerably more than 100m

I'd rather have Ronaldo in the EPL, you would have no fears of him hacking it and it isn't used to be the main outlet 99% of the time.

I'm not convinced Messi would get anywhere near the standard Ronaldo got to in England. Messi could be a gamble at 100 million in the same way Kaka has failed to perform elsewhere, you would know what you are getting with Ronaldo.

:)

Well Ronaldo went for £80m when he was on top of the world and 25, Messi is 25 now so he would have to go this summer or next at the latest, if you are paying £100 million + for a player you want to make as much out his image rights as you can, he will probably burn out at 30.

Messi has been playing 50+ games for the last 4 season, at the highest level.

Shame to see Guardiola leave, what he has achieved with this Barcelona side is nothing short of amazing.

I wish him all the best in whatever he does next, I expect it will be a nice long holiday :p I have enormous respect and love for him and his style of football and views on the game.

I said before, he's aged about 10 years and lost a lot of weight doing this job, the stress and pressure of the job is clearly huge and draining and it's finally taken it's toll. I think Guardiola wants the very best for the club and team and seeing that he's unable to give them that which they need at the minute he's stepped aside. Enormous respect :)

The cliché of 'they don't have a plan B' and 'anyone could win things with that team' are boring, dull and bull ****.

This was him 4 years ago on left, he just looks ill now. He has won every trophy at least twice, apart from Copa Del Rey but got a final this season.

Indeed, has looked to age years. The stress and pressure, internally and externally are huge at Barcelona.

Do like the GiF :)
