So a judge has just ruled that Assange cannot be extradited to the USA because of him being a suicide risk and the judge doesn't believe the USA have the capability to prevent his suicide - influenced by Jeffrey Epstein perhaps?

Love him or hate him, Assange is a powerful figure in the current zeitgeist and draws attention no matter what he does. He will likely be freed later today but I have to assume that he will need to stay in the UK now as any travel to other countries risks him being held and the extradition process happening again.

I'm fine with him not being extradited, America needs to play fair and extradite Anne Sacoolas, before we start handing people over, every time they ask.

That it's been stopped just because of the suicide risk means that it's been deemed that his investigative journalism was probably criminal.

I don't know the details of the whole Assange case, I don't find it all that interesting, so I don't know if it's reasonable or not. But protecting journalists from prosecution when investigating the government seems important.

Did he somehow cross a line?

I am totally ok with that. Use him as a bargaining chip to get that woman who killed Harry Dunn (Sacoolas) to be sent to UK and get Americans to change the immunity treaty.

if they want his head that bad, they need to pay for a price. No more lap dog behaviour please.

Oh, if they want Prince andrew, give us full access to their market with no caveats and no conditions. Then Andrew would be the most useful Royal in the modern days

I think he crossed the line cos A)he s a hacker. Although he didn’t personally hack the information that was released regarding USA secrets B) he released highly sensitive without redactions which endangered people and informants

I think it is B) that America is most peed off about along with that fact that all their dirty laundries were out in the showing so total embarrassment.

I am sure they will try to pin A) on him also for decrypting the files etc

Not only that but the USA is having a strop about it because how dare these people not obey our instructions! do they even know who we are? .

As much as I hate conflict, I can certainly see why the US is so hated on the global stage.

I know they are just bullies.

I do wonder what Joe Biden will do with Assange.

Anyone actually believe Epstein committed suicide?

If he cannot be extradited his presence should be determined as 'not conducive to the public good' and he should be escorted to the first Quantas flight leaving for Oz, his country of birth. We should not be keeping him or putting up with his annoying personality any longer.

He has abused his stay in the UK as I see it.

I don't want him back here, but I agree he's abused his hospitality in the UK. If he has to return, I'd like to see him imprisoned. We have a supermax prison that would do the job nicely.
