Junior Doctors Strikes

I'm deeply unconvinced his approach will work. Making the job more toxic than it already is is unlikely to cause them to back down.

The offer was fair reasonable and affordable to the employer, the taxpayer. Just threatening that it will cost billions more if strike action occurs is no reason to back down #miners. They are in a protected job with terms and conditions superior to most and most can earn higher than headline rates quite readily.

Longer term, this is better.

Rather than them having a hold over the UK and the taxpayer year in, year

Very small perspective. Instead of allowing the government to bully and prescribe away protestors, ask yourself why our taxes aren't being spent on where we, the people, want them to be spent. Else the problem will simply worsen and widen.

And now you want to give a serious reply?
Stick it somewhere unpleasant.

I feel this harms the population of the UK more than the doctors.
It's nonsense anyway, the 1000 "new" jobs are already occupied by non-training doctors and theyre just converting them to training posts (tough luck to the people already doing them it seems).

We import have imported far more non-UK graduates than we need, flooding the system and creating a bottleneck, that 1000 posts is a drop in the ocean.

It is the primary motivation behind the strikes.
Tell them until I see them doing 150 hours a week, getting paid only an Unpaid Carers amount for year on year and then not going insane with what you have to do, including physically moving the one needing care and they weigh 80KG, bed bound and falls risk, provide medication correctly, provide translation services, manage domestics, cook, clean, etc and to also purchase supplies when needed and you can't order in either - ALL, without going insane, getting upset, or demanding more pay and still doing everything right despite going 48+ hours non stop even. THEN, they have a right to strike more than I do.

Bringing in foreign doctors from god knows where is absolutely mental. When I go to the hospital I want to be seen by a Brit or an equivalent with similar levels of training not someone imported from the 3rd world who might kill me.

Rawr!

How is your accent? - both parents/Aunts, of whom one has hearing difficulties find it difficult to understand indian/Pakistani doctors;
yes if the were brummies/Scots they might have same issue - the lost productivity wholly down to language must multiply up across NHS.
(the rain in spain ...)

As meddling Monk says moneys should be redirected to more deserving carer professionals - have a sibling who does this.

Junior Doctors are on the ladder to become the Elite in UK.

What about all the bin collectors and bog cleaners in Brum?

Exactly. Recall last year how the governments commissioners blocked negotiations with the Unite? All they wanted was to continue working in safety(!), wasn't even about the money. Shameful.
