Jurassic World Dominion

I'm utterly baffled by this movie, the ending of the last movie and the premise for this movie seemed to be very different from the end product.

Remember that short video they put out about a year ago showing a Dinosaur going into a camping ground and causing trouble? That seemed to set the scene for a movie about people and Dinosaurs lving at the same time in the same space. This movie however didn't seem to show much of that at all, at the start we get a few clips showing dinosaurs causing trouble, flipping the fishing trawler etc. Then by the end of the movie we get the oh so happy clips of the large aquatic Dinosaur swimming close by a Whale and Elephants walking in step with Triceratops and all is right with the world and its fluffy clouds and rainbows for all.

But the main bulk of the movie for the most part ignored the Human\Dino together dynamic most of that and again the focus was on a Facility ran by cloners, which looked more like what i imagine the Apple campus to look like along with Tim Cook being the main bad guy. He even inexplicably had the little barbasol spray that Nedry used to steal embryos in the first movie sitting on his shelf, he grabs it near the end when he's hauling ass. That was lost in the first movie, how'd he get it?

Even the end of the movie was recycled crap, the ending for JP2 the island was declared offlimits so the Dinos could live in peace, and the end of this the Biosyn building and surrounding areas were declared a dino habitat and offlimits.

Watched it last night, thought it was fine to waste a couple of hours on, we'll never get wow factor of the original and the plot was a bit all over the place but it's no worse than all but the original.

I’ve actually seen it 2.5 times now and actually enjoyed it more each time. Maybe because I knew the pacing etc.

The Malta sequence is genuinely superb. There’s a lot going on that you can’t really take onboard on first view. The scene with Bryce first in the jungle is nicely done I thought. There’s a lot of story issues* but generally it’s a fun watch.

*My main issue is making the raptors “nice” in the first place. Those were the most terrifying thing in JP and in this movie they introduce them with airy fairy music running around like they’re nice deer on safari or something. Not cool.

went to watch this at the weekend, watched the second "world" jp film last week so already had low expectations. And yeh this film is a mess, the 1st jp film was great, a film with a simple idea (yeh it needed a bit of exploration at the beginning to set up the story, but then its what happens if we bring back the dinos and what could go wrong (maybe its about too much meddling with science and the consequences (cough cough woohan and covid)))

this one, i couldnt really tell you what was the idea? was it locust? was is dinos was it about cloning?

glad i had free tickets, as i didnt enjoy the ride! thou i will say my wife liked it!

I'd rather stare at the wall for two hours.

Problem is, people keep going to see this crap, so Hollywood keeps churning it out.

You don't come across as much of a film lover tbh. I've just had a quick scroll through your posts in this subforum and most films you've commented saying that they're garbage. Yet a few you've given high ratings to tend to be the low budget/low rating films that don't even make it to cinema.

Obviously fully entitled to your own opinion, but just found it interesting.

I tend to prefer the more creative films. And these days they are usually the lower budget indie offerings. Big budget Hollywood films are usually cookie cutter cgi loaded garbage with nonsensical plots pushing the message.

I am very much a film lover, there just isn't that much around worth loving these days.

Glad you are taking particular interest in what I have to say though :) I think :p

What a garbage movie.
Starts off with dinosaurs among people like it's normal. Giant locusts flying freely, where's the military?

That young was annoying.
Yea let's talk to dinosaurs.

The 3 original reunite, Malcolm looks fishy, let's not monitor him or let's not disable his security pass to L4.

Let's go to a bar scene that's looks like it's from star wars, cooking dinosaurs over fire. Let's have bigger dinosaurs in there somehow that no one saw smuggled in. Let's watch a fight while dinosaurs are loose. Owen casually makes a call when the guy next to him got his head eaten.

That evil chick, who is she? No backstory at all. Clair became a parkour expert. No security on L4.
Is that long claw dinosaur blind? Pilot goes completely above and beyond to help them, yea let me lose my 50k dollars and not say anything about it

Swimming dinosaur that didn't kill Owen but swam around him?
Dodson really incompetent.
Should have given more screen time to giga. Not attacking violently. Then long claws tags with trex, (JW1 anyone) what is this joke?
Some secure room that was broken by locusts. Flying long term while in flames, really?
People and dinosaurs living side by side even mososaur with the whales lol

Director must have been drunk. JW1 way better except running on heels.

It's my biggest issue with "Dino's run amok in a city" films. Yes I'm all for setting aside the thinking part of your brain to consume the latest product for entertainment but somethings are just glaringly stupid in their omission.
