I have been running my system without any problems for at least a year now if not more. I have not made any hardware or software changes recently but have started to recieve BSOD. These started every few weeks but have become slightly more frequent. I have cleaned out my system for dust etc. and have checked that all the temps are ok but now I am not sure what else to do. Sometimes the BSOD occurs when playing a game other times just when i'm on the internet.

My system consists of:

- Case: Antec 902 Ultimate Gaming Case - Black
- Power Supply: OCZ ZS 750w PSU
- CPU: Intel Core i7 960 3.20GHz Overclocked to 4.00GHz
- Motherboard: Gigabyte G1 Guerilla Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard
- Cooler:Corsair OcUK H2 Flo Extreme CPU Cooler
- RAM: 6GB DDR3 1600MHz Tri-Channel
- Hard Drive: 1TB HDD
- Graphics Card: Geforce GTX 460 1GB
- Sound: Asus Xonar DG 5.1 PCI Sound Card w/ Headphone Amp
- Optical Drive: Samsung SH-B123L/BSBP 12x BluRay ROM DVDRW DL & RAM Lightscribe SATAII

Gotcha mem test it is. I have used 'WhoCrashed' which is saying its hal.dll for 4/6 of my blue screens. I have had 0x124 (0x0, 0xFFFFFA80068C0028, 0xFA000000, 0x400405)

The actual blue screen has the usual information about a problem being detected etc. but the stop message is 0x00000124. I did manage to take photos of all my recent BSOD on my phone and have saved all the minidump files

124 bsod is 100% not enough qpi/vtt voltage on x58

Manually set it to 1.315v in the BIOS and then so how it is

Thanks a lot for the quick reply it's much appreciated. I'll try it tomorrow when I have a bit more time and I'll post back. I find it strange how it's been working fine for such a long time and now suddenly I'm getting multiple BSOD.

I would try qpi/vtt voltage first, then test with memtest for your ram,but 124 bsod is not enough qpi/vtt

qpi/vtt is for the integrated memory controller inside the cpu

I have changed the qpi/vtt to 1.315 so I'll see how that goes. Strangely enough my wireless adapter seems to have stopped working now although perhaps this is just a coincidence. Upon entering the BIOS to double check I had changed the right value I did receive a warning that the system had shut down due to overclocking or voltage changes and that the hw state may not be accurate or something similar to that.

If anybody has any help on whats happened to the wireless adapter that would be great. Its a Sitecom WL-172. I've had it working for a few seconds but then get the Not connected- No connections available message. Sometimes it says USB device not recognised or drivers have not been installed etc. It was occasionally cutting out yesterday but worked the majority of the time. I did have it working fine today until I changed the qpi/vtt. I have of course tried updating/removing/reinstalling drivers for the wireless adapter

Ok I seem to have got lucky and got it working for now atleast. Refreshed WLAN in services.msc, disabled avg and windows firewall, restarted computer and tried every USB port and suddenly it has started working again. I have no idea what went wrong there but fingers crossed it remains okay. Hopefully the bluescreens are fixed now as well so thanks to everyone for the help and I'll let you know how today goes as far as stability. Cheers.

Sorry for the continued posts but I figured I may as well post as much info as possible.
I have had the adapter running a few times but it cuts out within minutes or seconds and I hear the noise indicating a USB has been removed. Also in device manager my PC is showing a little warning sign with 'Code 28 Drivers not installed' displayed. Also CPU-Z shows my CPU is running at 3.2 which is stock speed instead of my OC's 4MHz. Did changing the qpi/vtt reset the overclock? I'm starting to the lose the plot here.

Run your CPU stock for awhile and see if you get a repeat.

What are your temps like? Warmer weather playing havoc?

I hate the summer. All it's good for BBQs and even that's in the evening. Morons all laying around cooking themselves for vanity while my PC cries.

The temps are all between 30 and 50 so that seems normal enough. All the USB ports are working with other devices it's just the wireless adapter is not working for some reason. I will probably just reinstall all my drivers and/or windows for the mobo and try overclock it again if I can find the right settings somewhere. You think that could do it? Just seems so odd everything works apart from getting the wireless to work.
