Just become an organ donor

someone want's to give me something I will take it, that does not however mean I have to give mine away. and as for the autopsy that would obviously only be required if I died of unknown causes.

Make no mistake I am not about to sit hear and by lectured by a bunch of do gooders. I decided along time ago and am not about to change my mind so please dont bother trying. meh

Amazingly bad attitude there! I'd hardly say we're a bunch of do-gooders, you've just got an extremely negative opinion.

I really hope you change your tune, if not, hopefully you'll never waste anyone elses organs should you require a transplant. :)

No it should NOT be compulsory and a good job that the plans for that where scrapped. They only cut you up when it's unknown.

The plans weren't for compulsory organ donation but presumed consent unless you had opted out, and to remove the rights for family members to veto your decision to donate organs after your death.

A damn good idea tbh, if someone has such a large problem with some good coming from their death, they should have to go to the effort of opting out. Rather than people going to the effort* of signing up.

*I say effort but in reality it really isn't, still, it'll stop many lazy people from signing up.

Just signed up, I remember my mum used to carry a donor card, shame she wasn't in a fit state to donate when she died, hopefully if I die and am able to I can donate my organs. Literally took less than a minute too.

I respect those who wish to donate: it shows very good intentions indeed and that is commendable.
However it is something that I understand, but do not personally believe in it. I would never, ever be so moronic to criticise anyone who is pro-donation, yet I do expect for a mutual understanding as this isn't about (those against) being selfish or do-gooders or anything like that. It is a matter of choice which we must respect, no matter what we might believe in.

I'd like to keep my organs if and when i die. Besides im planning on being a test cryogenics by the time im old then ill need my organs if they can bring me back to life and young again. :p

Can I ask why you are not pro-donation?

My real qualm is with people who are all for taking but not for giving. There is no ethical argument from their perspective and it is a really scummy viewpoint to have.

People who are against the idea in principle I can at least appreciate their point of view even if I do not agree with it.

Im not pro donation and I am happy not to recieve any organs (although thats probably easier said when I dont need any). The reason why is that most people are ***** IMO and are not worth saving, and the fact there are too many people on this planet.

That's rather unfair, considering I didn't say I was against the idea! I'm afraid it's a very personal thing, and no I'm not all for taking and not giving thankyou very much sir. Your tone seems somewhat preachy and self righteous, a tone which I did not use when posting my thoughts and labelling me or others who share a view contrary to yours as 'scummy' is rather unpleasant.
It is a matter of CHOICE. I simply do not believe in it. You can say whatever you want about that but at the end of the day it's a personal choice which must be respected in a democratic society.

I'm signed up and finally have a card now, it only took them about 3 goes before they sent one out to me. :D You have however reminded me to put it in my wallet although it doesn't really make any difference other than it might make the hospital slightly more likely to check my wishes.

As far as I'm concerned I might as well be signed up, no use in my organs rotting in the ground or turned to ash when they could be helping someone else. I do appreciate Bear's point that lots of people are ***** but it isn't like you have a choice or indeed any real interest in who your organs go to after you die so I'll take my chances that it will be someone I 'approve' of.
