Could he be waiting for the cheque to clear, that takes 3 or 4 days, dosent it ?

A cheque does not fully clear until 6 weeks, i believe. I know you can still cancel the cheque up to this point.
The 3-4 working days is just to check that you have the sufficient funds available in your account.

The item was won on 28th Feb, I posted a cheque with covering letter around 8th March and payment cleared on 12th March.

His delivery method was special delivery on the auction site and he acknowledged by e-mail when he received payment.

He has not answered any of my e-mails since then.

You posted your cheque 8 days after winning the item but you're fussed about the item not being with you after 4 days? :/

Not even 4 days as the cheque usuly clears at the end of the day and this was posted on the 15 so in effect 2 days:(

hello, i bought 1 Gb of Corsair ram on an online auction and sent the seller, who had good feedback, a cheque. He never sent the Ram despite efforts to contact him.

Is there anything I can do about it? The cheque has now cleared. I regret not using Paypal.

Total value of the deal was some 95 pounds

You haven't been conned yet lol. If I pay a cheque into my building society which I use for cheques from ebay slales, it takes 7 working days for them to clear it (with Portman). It may go out the senders account but won't fully clear in mine for that 7 working (not inc weekend days)

So you sent it on the 8th (thursday) so he may not have paid it in until Monday (the first working day) assuming he got it on Friday/Sat so depending on where he paid it into it may not have even cleared for him yet. This isn't the same as it going out your account.

If you expect things to come to you quickly then pay by cash or paypal and if it arrives in good time by special delivery then leave the bloke some decent feedback.

I wouldn't expect him to send it until next week for you and by cheque this seems reasonable.

This is down to your expectations and not his fault.

Actually this puts it all in a completely different light... I usually dread getting buyers like the OP when I sell on Ebay.:D

Yup. Same amount of money, both involve a cheque.

Freaky
Quick, we should inform both of them that they are making a BIG MISTAKE. That they have possibly MISUNDERSTOOD.

Freaky indeed. What would have happened had we not been here to prevent certain calamity? :)

You can get 2gb Corsair, it may not be the same as you bought a gig for £95 but this is value and its £99.99 delivered.

my seller has dispathced the item now thank god, case closed. he was a real darling about it. he wrote a long essay to tell me off about sending the cheque 2nd class post and not realisin that when funds showed as paid from my side, this did not mean that funds showed on his side the same day.

I think I will use Paypal next time.

What is Paypal's e-cheque system like?
