Vista X64

Tested system at stock to get it stable

Prime 95 , 20 minutes small ftts, OK
Prime 95 Blend 20 minutes OK

No issues there, once i get into vista im completely stable.

here is where the problem is

UNRECOVERBLE HARDWARE ERROR BSOD :/

this error pops up when im booting vista
it also pops up when im trying to reinstall windows vista even before i can get to the format hdd section of the instal.

I have tested all i can think of..

Graphics card First and Second slots
2 diffrent hdds
no dvd drives installed or atapi drives installed
no usb harware apart from mouse/keyboard.

same error.

now here is the funny thing the error always happens no matter what when im trying to reinstall os.

os during bootup will bsod but after 2 or 3 reboots it will let me into vista and then im completely utterly stable.

please help me becuse im at a loss and so is the nice guy that i bought the motherboard from

he recommended i post in here to get extra help cause we are stumped.

there is definatly a conflict somewhere but where. :(

also latest chipset drivers have been installed.

If you find out the BSOD code you can do a check on google/microsoft which should give you more info . about the problem.

There is also an error log stored on the computer. Not sure where but it's there lol.

I also used to have the Biostar TPower X58, ran perfectly.

Do you have a Soundcard such as an Asus Xonar or X-Fi?

If so don't have it plugged in when installing system, once system is installed - disable the onboard sound within the Device Drivers, then connect & install the Soundcard.

Of course this is totally irrelavant if you dont have a Soundcard. :)

Secondly like I mentioned in a previous thread the motherboard is abit picky with ram, try running the DRam settings all on auto settings - it should run at 1200mhz @ 6-6-6-24 timings or something daft.

If that works then reset the timings for 1600mhz @ 8-8-8-24 using 1.65v

Try this:

8 = TCL
8 = TRCD
8 = TRP
24 or 28 = TRAS
6 = TRRD
12 = TWR
6 = TWTR
6 = TRTP
88 = TRFC

It's a forum of your actual mobo.

'There was recently published a workaround for this problem. It worked for me:

It has been determined that the blue screen of death code 0x00000124 is caused by audio devices in Windows Vista.

This particular issue is industry-wide and can happen on any computer with a sound card or integrated audio and Windows Vista.

We have found a workaround to this issue which should help stabilize the system without sacrifing something as important as your computer's audio devices.

Please perform the following steps to resolve the issue:

1. Go to the BIOS by pressing [DEL] during POST.
2. Go to Advanced Chipset Features.
3. Go to CPU Configuration
4. Select C1E Enhanced Halt State and set it to Disabled
5. Press [F10] to save the changes and exit. '

We are getting somewhere, Vortex was onto it, then nelly hit the nail on the head.

Im useing a XFI Prelude 7.1

I tryed disableing the onboard and completely removing the XFI
that still gave me the 0x00000124 type unrecoverable errors.

i was also told there is 2 settings in the bios for disableing the onboard sound
could having one enabled and one disabled cause this problem ? cause i cant find the other setting to disable lol

But i havent tryed your method yet nelly but removing the xfi and enableing onboard sound then trying to install os then disableing onboard then putting card back in ect

but that still doesnt solve the BSOD during the current vista install as i can pull the card and disable onboard and enable onboard and it still bsods during vista bootup.

Is this board compatible with ATI 4870X2s cause it could be a hardware clash with the cards onboard audio chip but i dont think thats it..

we are getting closer

is there 2 settings in the bios i have to disable to disable the onlboard sound ?

Thats the first thing i did even before this problem cropped up mate was to disable C1E Enhanced Halt State to disabled :/

4. Select C1E Enhanced Halt State and set it to Disabled
Nice find, for overclocking purposes I always had that disabled anyway so never came across that problem.

For overclocking purposes, you will need to set a few things within the bios - disabling C1E support is one of them.

Note:
1) CPU Vcore minus QPI/PCIe should be about 0.04V
2) DRAM Voltage minus CPU Vtt should be about 0.40V

"CPU Configuration"
C1E Support: Disable
Hardware Prefetcher: Disable
Adjacent Cache Line Prefetch: Disable
Max CPUID Valut Limit: Disable
Intel Virtualization: Disable
CPU TM Function: Disable
Execute-Disable Bit: Disable
Intel HT Technology: Enable
Active Processor Cores: ALL
A20M: Disable

One more thing when i was primeing ect on blend and small ftts, is 59c load a good temp for overclocking when i get this issue sorted.
i think its good lol

Depends of it's at stock or not, have you updated to the latest official bios also??

Also test the memory with the intergrated memtest within the bios. . .

BIOS Type AMI
BIOS Version 080015
System BIOS Date 03/04/09
Video BIOS Date 07/14/08
BIOS Manufacturer
Company Name American Megatrends Inc.

-------------------------

Thats the bios i have installed.
Im running a Thermalright 120 Push and Pull config with 2 120mm Xmat Fans 1500rpm

Also my DDR is showing in everest as useing 1.66v
isnt the default 1.64 or 5 as i dont wanna fry the chips as intel would say with anything much higher on the memory.

anyway before i even start overclocking ect, i want to solve this audio problem, well to me this invisible audio hardware conflict.

----

Man i wish i could solve this audio issue
i dont understand with no sound card installed and the audio disabled in the bios why would it bsod on me when the onboard hardware is disabled ....

I think it's still worth a try installing Vista without the card as per Nellys post.:)

i will give it a try tommorow as its a bit late now to be diving into hardware + im slightly tired lol dont want to break something heh

i will report tommorow with my findings cause i know this problem is probably just something stupid.

Haven't got the board anymore but yeah let us know how you get on, interested to know if you get this sorted.

Right guys i am about to try pulling the card out of the system and enableing onboard then trying to reinstall os.

here is a picture showing my system is completely stable so i dont get it at all LOL

LinX 2+ hour test, should mean i run prime for over 10 hours right ? lol

linxtest.jpg

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH this is really doing my nut in now.

Im still getting a problem
+ now i just experianced a new BSOD, with the words machine check error during vista x64 bootup.

hmmm
it could be to do with the speedstep voltage drops ect ect as when your overclocking your not ment to have that stuff enabled.

whats the settings to disable all that

Tweaking and what not on a x58 motherboard is harder for me than x48..

Haha that was my post on there. Right I have to say I totally forgot about that myself and I'm gonna recheck the sound card settings in bios. I just got a D0 as well and while it overclocks to 4ghz stable, getting a higher overclock is a bit erratic. For example I had it at 4.04ghz (213x19) with my ram at 1708mhz and that ran LinX flawlessly but prime failed and just shut my computer down.

On the other hand, using other settings I can have prime stable and not LinX. As Nelly has mentioned, the main limitation of the board is the memory. Try running it below 1600mhz and see what happens. Also turbo mode always gives me problems (when overclocked) so try turning that off.
