back to square one. the boot device led has no stoped lighting up but now the vga led is lighting up red and i get no display?+checked all power connections for everything.
Sounds like a RAM or video card issue. Are you sure you have the appropriate power connectors to the video card? Sure the RAM is fully seated in the slots? It could also be a short somewhere - sure there's not a stray screw behind the motherboard or anything?
All you can do is the standard trial and error procedure in these circumstances. Take the mobo out and try booting it with the just the bare essentials plugged-in - hopefully you can isolate the problem. If it appears to be random then it's probably a bad motherboard or PSU.
Hmm, no not really:/ Just rebuilt the entire thing to make sure there was nothing behind the mobo and there wasn't. All the fans come on etc but there is no post. The VGA led lights up red which means thats the problem. also i reset bios/cleared cmos to no avail and i also cant seem to get it to run off the onboard gpu.
Sound like the mobo. Could possibly be the PSU, but it doesn't sound like that to me. I'd get the mobo replaced and hopefully that will be the end of it.
Because the light is next toi the gpu slot, doesn't mean it's the gpu led. Check the test next to the led on the board. Also, is there a beeping sequence?
