Doubt it, the game itself requires Steamworks.
Steam client is pretty lightweight.

yes, and if it is a steamworks game which it sounds like, it will install steam if you don't have steam. You can't escape steam! you will be assimilated.

Pre-ordered it off of somewhere yesterday. I forgot about their somewhat lax delivery times so I guess I won't be playing it over the weekend. Oh well, it's something to do over half term I guess.

Add your Just 2 game to steam using the code you got in the box then use the steam://install/8190 link in your browser to start it preloading, you won't see any activity in steam but you'll see the files populating your hard drive.

Nope, that is the date/time set by the publisher. Common time for UK games though. Somtimes it does just randomly unlock sooner!
