Just cause 3

just had an hour play time on it.. now need to make the kids there dinner :(

so far Im liking it.
as said single gtx 970 and its running smooth but not sure of my FPS as my OSD from riva tuner isint showing up..

I had a quick test with JC2 and it shows on that but not showing in JC3 which is annoying as I would have liked to have known my FPS

I've just had an hour of free-world and fun as anything

took out a train .... some unexpected consequences ....

but then train bits all over surrounding countryside as it went over the edge

very fun

I had a mission getting started up this morning!

First problem was the game required > 70gb to unpack and wanted it on my OS SSD that only had 70gb free, so ended up having to copy the install over to the mechanical drive, unpack it there, which resulted in 51gb of files, so I could then copy it back. I'm still not 100% sure its running off the SSD! I have been running the jc3 executable from the SSD drives steam folder, which does start the game.

Ran the game, had the horrible missing textures and holes in the ground problem that people here have mentioned on AMD cards. I downloaded the beta drivers 3 times! 3rd time I downloaded the full package, which finally fixed that problem.

I had to change the games resolution to 1080p in the menus's and then wacked everything on full. Single 290 with a slight overclock, I'm getting 80-90fps in most places, so have capped it at 60fps with rivatuner.

No problems since, game runs like a dream! I don't really see it dipping below 60fps.

I am REALLY bad at the whole wing suite flying though, face planting into everything. The car driving model is terrible! The grappling needs some work too, i.e if you grapple onto a surface, like one of them guard towers and get underneath the platform, then spend 30 seconds trying to get up and on to said platform. Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

I have an xbone controller here, I might try that to see if its any easier to play.

Ive only liberated a few places so far so it's early days, but it seems fun enough so far.

so I had a quick google and managed to get a FPS display up through steam. ( would prefer my riva tuner one though )
I seem to be getting a solid 60 FPS Its not went any higher. so Im wondering if the frame rate is locked. not worried though as it plays so smooth and everything is on its highest setting and im running the newest driver that came out today

From what I've seen and read in the reviews I think I'll wait till this lands in the bargain bin. Looks like reskinned JC2 with a pointlessly big, empty map and weak driving physics. The explosions look great, though.

A nice game to **** about in for 30 minutes but I can see myself losing interest in it pretty quickly.

Bought the retail version (ie with the DVD's) and the friggin code says its invalid. Yet it registered on the Square Enix website as valid but Steam says its invalid.
Now I've got to try and sort it out.
Flaming hell.

<DOH!> stupid Steam code is hidden underneath the last DVD!!!! What a silly place to put it. The other code was just for the SE website.

Just got home from work after preloading, only to find it's got some update to do and won't be ready to play for some length of time... (Steam can't make it's mind up)

*waits*

First time with a Just Cause game, so didn't really know what to expect (I'd already seen reviews on YT). Not as much immediate fun as I thought it would be, possibly because of the learning curve of the grappling hook/wingsuit etc. Worth the £17, but glad I didn't pay full RRP.

Runs fine on my 970 @ 1080P - had to turn SMAA off as it was dropping below 60 in some places.

Game just will not start for me at all, get to the menu screen but after that I just keep getting low memory errors in windows despite 16gb of ram so haven't played even 1 minute yet.

Rather frustrating..

I get this too. I saw 5.5gig used of my 8, so dont know why its hitting a low memory.

Very annoying, hours wasted at my pc trying to make it play

sadly riva tuner doesn't work, I just shoved MSI afterburner on my 2nd screen I'm getting over 60FPS game looks lovely, helluva fun!

Protip: tether cows, you will thank me for the hilarity :D

With all the news about bad performance etc etc I was expecting a poor start to the game but without sounding too optimistic, I have not run into any problems so far.

In fact, the game is running silky smooth on the latest Nvidia drivers, Windows 8.1 64, on an SLI rig (although apparently SLI isnt working), with max settings and downsampled from 3200x1800 res as per sig-rig. Been playing for about an hour without any issues. It sucks that others are having problems.

Couple of things I found that I like:

HUD can be disabled or minimised to reticle only.
Vehicle camera auto correcting can be disabled to get some cool views when driving.

So far, its Just Cause 2.5 to me but thats no bad thing, all I need now is a SweetFX profile to dull down these horrid dayglow bright textures.

Game runs great in 1920x1200 on my setup, GTX970, 16GB and an i5 3570k. So much fun just tooling around with the wing suit :D

Just tried it at 2560*1440 and it's running pretty well but I might drop it back to 1080p for more frames!

Nice looking game - can't wait to sit down and properly give this some time :D
