Just cried watching a tv show...

for some reason a tear was on the verge of coming out of my eye in godzilla  - when they killed it on the bridge. Watched crash the other day too, which was quite emotional

The closest thing I've come to crying at was Band Of Brothers where they're interviewing Winters at the end and he says:

I treasure my remark to a grandson who asked, "Grandpa, were you a hero in the war?" "No", I answered, "But I served in a company of heroes".

I can get quite emotionally involved in stuff depending on my mood, especially if I'm watching uninterrupted on my own. Plenty had me crying when I was a kid, but as an adult:

Welling up films:

Armageddon
Empire of the Sun
Gladiator
Green Mile
Shawshank
Last of the Mohicans (fantastic musical score)
Platoon
Saving Private Ryan
Band of Brothers, various
Schindler's List

Balling like a girl:

It's a Wonderful Life
Man Utd winning the Champion's League in '99. I went mental. My mam was genuinely worried :D

Same, surprised so few have mentioned this. One of the few times I have been on the verge of crying. I don't generally have tears rolling down my cheeks, just start to well up.

I do rarely cry at things, but there's alway a good few that get/got me going.

Notably:
Band of Brothers Episodes 9 + 10:

^^^^ That get's me going just thinking about that comment at the end.

Saving Private Ryan - End
Schindler's List
Dr. Green on ER
Shawshank Redemption

The Boy Whose Skin fell off - such a good documentary, and got you going how up-beat the guy was, but in so much pain every day.

The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption made me well up :D I usually think of happy things like Santa Claus to make the tears go away :D
My g/f on the other hand cries at anything. We were sitting watching an episode of Futurama one day and she was in full blown sob mode :D She was trying to laugh at the same time (because I was taking the mickey out of her) so she ended up doing that half laugh half cry thing :D

I didn't cry but its the only time a tv show has literally smacked me in the face, when you realise he died and you suddenly see what the whole episode what saying, i just sat there staring at the screen.

That episode of Scrubs was great. I also chose to skip that episode of ER. Having loved the show over the years I just couldn't bear to watch it. Also The Simpsons has its really great moments. "Maggie I hope you never say a word..... *closes door* .... dada".

Babylon 5: Sleeping in light. Having watched the show over the 5 years through its ups and downs, the final episode was such a kicker. Sheridans death, JMS turning off the lights (god that was a lovely touch), the destruction of the station, Delenn watching the sunrise, the music... Its been so many years and I still find it hard to watch that episode and even listen to the music.

/me goes off to do manly things. Rugby anyone? :D

the episode of futurama where fry finds his fossilised dog (jurassic bark) choked me up when i watched it :(

still have never re-watched it to this day, despite seeing the others numerous times

:(

Ah yea, that is a quite sad scene in futurama, it's the music and the way the dog waits for him. I guess if you've never had a pet like it, it's hard to understand.

Don't mean to be pendantic but the quote is:

"I cherish the question my grandson asked me recently: 'Grandpa, were you a hero in the war?'. Grandpa said 'No' '...but I served in a company of heroes.'"

... and yes you're right it's very touching :)

I don't think i've seen Schindlers list yet actually.

Has anyone ever watched a really good film, like the ones which really play with your thoughts and emotions and then woken up the next day thinking about it? It's happened to me after I saw a couple of really good films on TV before I went to sleep. Can't remember which ones they are though.

That was the most harrowing documentary I've ever seen I think. I didn't sleep a wink after watching it. Heartbreaking heartbreaking stuff. A truly amazing man.

^ I had a media teacher at my school while I was at 6th form, who I talked to, I didn't actually do media. But, he worked on that documentary. He said when they had to change the boys bandages he had to leave the room because the way the boy screamed :(

That poor soul.

See the two posts above, which were deleted?... Actually, if a passing Don is here, can you please delete my above post too. Cheers.

LOL that reminds me, my Dad took me and my three cousins to see Dumbo when I was about 4 (they were between 8 an 12 years and all boys) He said it was horrific, all four of us were beside ourselves and completely inconsolable!
