Just dropped a deposit on some M Power - Trackday Project Car

I actually think the bright silver would look the best

Yeah it's nice, but brake dust, hence leaning towards darker silver. :)

Gonna keep my eyes open for a set second hand or hope a deal/group buy pops up as it's big money and think my current wheels probably only worth £200-£300.

Plan is 18x9.5" wheels with either 255/40/18 fronts and 275/35/18 rears or square 265/35/18 setup. :)
Or 18x9.5 front and 18x10 rear, shall do some research to see which will fit best and not have any rubbing issues.

Bright silver + brake dust = dark silver.

Have wheels that look different depending on how you clean them, mine looks pretty good with brake dust on as they go a few shades darker but then looks nice as a change when you clean them

You doing any track days soon Gibbo? I'm doing Bedford with Freefaller on the 18th if you're free. £89 OPL.

HI m8

I've booked Donny on February 15th. :)

This Bedford, is that January 18th? Got a link to where I can check and potentially book it please?

No- it's probably one of the toughest tracks on brakes as it's quite high speed. I need to do a brake fluid change this weekend in preparation.

Am tempted, but M3 has about one track day left in the front disc and I've booked Donnington.

The 911 disc are cracked, could be risky, but oh so tempting.

Think sensible thing is to give it a miss as its best to have front disc which are not at end of their life for a track day.

Let me know when you do one later in the year, will definitely be up for it as long as its not June time. :)

I'm aiming to do a lot this year, so will let you know.

OK cool let me know. Also you should do Donnington or Outlon Park, both awesome tracks.

Donnington is fast and flowing on national circuit. GP circuit has a couple more tighter slower corners and is much harsher on brakes.

Oulton Park is a very twisty circuit with a lot of tight corner and lots to crash into, it also absolutely mullers brakes.

Bedford - Superb beginners circuit and you can take liberties as there is practically nothing to crash into, its a pretty good circuit from what I remember. :)

Silverstone - Awesome but I could not get to grips with it so easily, kept getting lost lol, long circuit with a lot more corners, still great circuit.

Goodwood - Found it boring and junk!

Cadwell and Rockingham heard good things about, need to try those at somepoint. :)

I'm surprised you've not done Castle Combe Gibbo.

I rate Bedford and Oulton park above it though ;) , I nearly understeered off the Track in the FN2 at Oulton a few weeks back. There's certainly a lot to go wrong if you leave the track.

Did Oulton in 2007 - great track; Donington in Feb 2007 with you :p, and again in 2011 in my M3; did Silverstone in 2012 and last year - I got to grips with the National circuit after a while, but there is a lot to catch you out; never done Goodwood. Cadwell is fantastic track - only done it once, but would like to do it again, hugely unforgiving if you screw up. I've seen an MR2 roll there, and a very messy looking Elise.

I've done Bedford close to 10 times now - probably a favourite in my own car as you can really push it to 100% without *too* much fear of totalling your car. Although it lacks gradients, it is still a technical track, and is brilliant for working on high speed cornering whilst pushing it as hard as you can.

Combe separates the men from the boys

and oil from the crank

Indeed it does. I was quite shocked at the speeds I was capable of reaching at Combe and that was with obstactles on the course sprint series style! Some very fast corners. My baffled sump was bought with Combe in mind.

Great track though. Can't imagine how difficult it would be to navigate at those speeds with other cars around you :o
