Watercooling, currently 41C under load.aardvark said:what cooling do you have?
i have a freezer pro.
No, very new as it is a CDBFE 0623WPEW so it's made in the 23rd week of 2006 which is june iircJustintime said:Perhaps you lot got some older cores?
Doppleganger said:Ok I've gotten mine to 2.6Ghz at 1.53V and OCCT and 3DMark 2006 stable. I will prime test it overnight.
Seems like a few of these chips are not great clockers.
My old SD 3700+ needed way less volts at 2500Mhz, if 2500Mhz already needs 1.55V there is little hope it will get close to 2700Mhz as that would require ~1.7V or moreMadMatty said:All that said i dont think the 3800 is a bad occer, just needs a good board which can offer me a few more volts to get most out of the cpu.
I think I'm in the same situation as you, my 3700 SD sat at 2.5GHz for a year on stock volts in my DFI SLi-D. The 3800 X2 will do 2.2GHz at stock volts, and bombs Windows at 2.4GHz, even with my G.Skill PC4400 RAM on a divider. Not tried 2.3GHz yet. If I can get 2.4GHz with a bit more vcore, I'll be happy, it's a cheap chip and I'll probably do a mobo-CPU-RAM upgrade next year anyway.Dutch Guy said:My old SD 3700+ needed way less volts at 2500Mhz, if 2500Mhz already needs 1.55V there is little hope it will get close to 2700Mhz as that would require ~1.7V or more
I doubt it, I have watercooling and the difference in CPU temp between 30C ambient and 20C ambient is only 4CKillajaz said:Heatwave. WHen it cools down I think you should get better results.
What stepping have you got?Doppleganger said:Well, think I'm gonna leave mine at 2.6Ghz for the time being, now at 1.52V. Ran through 8 hours of Prime95 on both cores and so seems stable enough. I've got dual-core at the same speed as my old 3000+ so I'm reasonably happy now.
What BIOS are you running on your Ultra-D? Might have an effect on things...Dutch Guy said:I doubt it, I have watercooling and the difference in CPU temp between 30C ambient and 20C ambient is only 4C
I am beginning to think I have one of the worst clocking CPU's out there, maybe after some burning in it can clock higher but I doubt it.
704-2bta, my SD 3700+ ran at 2750Mhz for a while without issues.Credo said:What BIOS are you running on your Ultra-D? Might have an effect on things...

Yeah, I could do that but I still have my SD 3700+ I need to sell that is worth almost nothing since the price cuts and I doubt I can convince my girlfriend I 'have' to buy another CPUaardvark said:i've decided to order a 4800+ - at least its 1mb cach and is guarenteed to be 2.4ghz
i'll just sell the 3800+ and make a loss - its only money

Only got a standard heatsink/fan; thought I read somewhere the dual cores came with a sink with heatpipes or is this only for Opteron Duals?
