Just got myself 6 points and an IN10 :(

Very unlucky...

It is another reason why I do not like coppers...I just feel that they're picking on easy targets which happen to be innocent people every time.

So you drove it to the petrol station for petrol or to blow up the tyres?

for a 25 yard distance I would have walked or borrowed a pump.

I walked 300 yards to get some petrol for my car that was SORN.

Its sods law, its only a short distance I will easily ge away with it. :p

Sod's law says that you'd get pulled for driving 25 yards down the road, yet you wouldn't have if you'd driven it 250 miles down the country.

Very unlucky, however just goes to show that you really can't risk it in this day and age.

Very unlucky there mate, there are these people who drive around with no tax and insurance for months on end and get away with it

You were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

That realy realy sucks mate :(

Isn't there any way to appeal against it ?

Harsh as it maybe he doesn't have a leg to stand on. He has taken the right attitude though. Gotta give him respect for that.

The guys just doing his job, imagine if you had a blowout on the way to the petrol station and knocked a kiddie off his bike you'd feel a right tit.

What is there to appeal? He had no insurance, end of discussion. Im one of those "OMG THINK OF THE KIDS!!" people btw, lets say you or someone else driving around you had a lapse of concentration and an accident occured ...

All these people who've posted "So unlucky ..." etc, are you people wired up? Would you have been telling the OP how unlucky he was had he ploughed into your car whilst uninsured

He's learned an important lesson here that hasn't been too expensive, i've heard of people being extorted by clampers for a few hundred quid through no fault of their own, if he's got away with it today he may have done it agian at a later date for a few months, at least thats how the police see it.

You can "what if" any situation until the cows come home. He didn't, so it's irrelevant.

I dont think it is irrelevant, the reason we need insurance (by law) is for those very reasons .... what if...?

Its the sympathy vote i object too though, how many on here were mouthing off that type r driver who left his built in sat nav on display.

That really is sods law at work :(

I was going to type about how they should work on catching those that drive for years without insurance... but I guess thats what they were doing, you were just very unlucky.

:(

on what grounds exactly?
the offence is driving without insurance, he had no insurance.
find a loophole in that and your next job will be to find Lord Lucan.

it is harsh that the OP wasn't trying to do what 99% of people charged with the same offence are, ie to drive with no intentions of buying insurance, but unfortunately that's just the way it goes.

FWIW the OP has my sympathies.
