You can "what if" any situation until the cows come home. He didn't, so it's irrelevant.
if someone drives past you and takes a pot shot with a rifle at you, but they miss...if they are immediately apprehended should they be set free without charge because they didn't actually hit you? or should they be charged anyway?

Pfft, the OP wasn't intending on hurting anyone and the officer could have used his discretion in this case, as for yours it wouldn't apply.

im on the phone to a pc as i type this and he is saying that with an offence such as no insurance there is no scope for discretion.

every uninsured driver who is involved in an accident didn't intend to have said accident either.

I'm on the phone to the Queen atm, and she says she remembers having a conversation with djbenjo allowing him to drive without insurance, and she's down wid it.

Yet discretion is used for off duty police officers speeding down a motorway to "test" out his new patrol car.

That's a justice system and a half alright.....

and the purpose of that would be?
a good friend of mine is a serving police officer and he happened to call me.
so, given that were talking about a traffic offence, exactly what reasons can you give as to why his opinion isn't relevant?

I wasn't being at all sarcastic or trying to one up there. This is why forums are so bad for trying to make those references to political satire that you do in the pub with a half straight face, but everyone knows you're joking :(

Sowwy!

Stop being a bunch of argumentative asshats and get back to the topic in hand
that'd be nice wouldn't it.

i'm sure the OP feels like crap right now and hopefully IN10 won't affect his premium come renewal time.

and i'd have bet money on your next reply being REALLY arsey.
just goes to show that on a text based system when chatting to someone that you really don't know, it's easy to draw several wrong conclusions.

hugs?

lol

An IN10 is going to be a premium rape surely?

i dunno, get caught speeding and it shows you may do it again.
get caught for IN10 and it can't say you're gonna drive without insurance again if you're phoning a broker to arrange insurance can it? lol.

Hate to bring a big downer on it, but the Admiral groups quote generators return "We are unable to insure the driver with the unacceptable conviction history" :(

you're kidding?
even if this is accross the board there's always a way round it.

unlucky benjo, you knew the risk but got caught. gutting tbh, but fair shout for taking it.
