I think only my good reactions at slowing down for speed camera's and vans ave saved me from any points so far as generally I never stick to the speed limits.

Also i've been caught twice on the motorway doing 90mph, and been let off both times :D
 
43? Ouch close to the cut off point; around here the police say 45+ is a court offence :(

Dont be worried your not as bad as me; 44 in a 30 on a sunday morning 2 weeks after passing my test!

Not by any stretch of the imagination, but if I can't see what's round the next corner (be it stationary traffic, plod or a camera van), of course I take it easy. There's very little excuse for being caught by a marked car, camera or van.

Anyway, find the right road and you don't have to exceed the posted limit to have fun, especially in an Elise.

Really :confused: Looks like the rules in the UK are different to here in Holland, they hide the things in trashcans and behind bridges here so that they are not visible at all :(
 
Unless things have changed recently, I was under the impression that the authority had to warn drivers when they were entering an area in which speed measuring devices operate.

Define "an area" - I've seen camera signs on a road more than ten miles before a camera actually appears.
 
Worst thing about trying to stick to the speed limits is when people drive right up your bum, just cannot stand that, most annoying thing, tbh people should get points on their license for doing it :/ If im in my car its not so bad since its semi sporty people tend to keep their distance, however if im driving my mums Micra then people ride on my bumpers, really quite fasinating, wonder why they feel the need to drive so close to an old womans car? :P

I get it all the time in the Elise, particularly in 30/40 areas. What people don't realise is that I can stop a lot quicker than they can, and they'll be looking at a large insurance claim if I have to...

they had their car parked and were standing behind their car.


Anyway i've been and spoken to my uncle whos an ex copper and he said for me not to take my license to the station like i was told to and we wrote a letter saying i'm willing to except the points/fine if they can provide me with a certificate to say it has been tested recently and that i don't want to go to court over it but merely evidence that the machine is working properly

You guys are far from alone. All I drive is an older 1989 318 tourer at the moment on t' roads, I stick like glue to the 30 limits and get idiots following me right up close almost all the ruddy time when I do. I may waiver up to an indicated 32 max.

Then what happens is we get out of town on a windy road and I'm gone. Now if I'm following those one's you know, that do about 43 mph everywhere... Meaning through the countryside, out of town, they dawdle along occasionally making a correction to stay on the left side of the road, ya ya you know the ones.... they carry right on (or maybe sometimes they may drop to about 40 mph in the 30 zones etc... Now that lot drives me potty.

But anyway, screw em. I'll stick to 30 in a 30 and I do not give a rats how close ya wanna sit. I'm in posession of an FiA group B license and used to hammer about in the BMW rKumho challenge with a nice lil M5 race car and I'm quite happy to wind up the pace and simply maintain it should the fool need a dose of what pace means.

Hate typecasting folks but they tend to be either 33 year old women with a black or silver VW Golf full of screamin kids, or a bloke of similar age perhaps usually driving a red, blue, black or silver Ford of some descroption.
 
sorry ive got no sympathy for you at all, theres no excuse for speeding at all in a 30, especially 13 over the limit :mad:

83 in a 70 would be fine, but 43 in a 30 is daft

mox3d, im the same, i get a tailback of people following me when i stick exactly to the limits in towns etc

30,40,50 - stick to like glue, NSL - what are they :p the lower limits are there to protect pedestrians etc so its more important to stick to them imo

He's not asking for sympathy though is he, just saying he's been nicked. I think I know what road he is talking about too, if it is the one I'm thinking of, it's just before an nsl road starts and the corner he went round is the last one before the limit goes to nsl. Police like to hang out at this spot quite a lot too.
