Just How Powerfull are Deltas *With a Twist*

deltas won't do nothing...the fan motor has practically no torque and a human finger, polo, coin, etc are far to tough to be damaged by something that'll stop as soon as you touch it, plus the fan blades themselves weigh next to nothing meaning they have little mass, thus meaning little energy when hitting something. howabout how much damage can i do with a microwave, always potentially explosive... ;)

How about sticking some razors on the fan blades?

you have obviously never played with a delta then have you

Having cut my fingers a couple of times on a normal fan, there's no way I would take a chance with a Delta.

lol what sort of cut did you get, a minor little paper-cut type or a horrific finger hanging on by a few capillaries type? :p

and lol that might do the trick, sharper surfaces have lower surface area hitting whatever thus increasing the kinetic energy when it hits, if you stuck razors on, heavied the blades a bit more, you could give yourself a heck of a cut :p but it wouldn't do any real harm with a box standard delta fan with no modifications. like something on 'mythbusters' on discovery once, a normal roof fan cannot cause decapitation :p

Flesh deep certainly, I reckon a Delta would seriously mangle a finger tip if you stuck one in. The blades are pretty sharp and and the hub is wieghty.

I might get the camera out again...

theres not much chance of a finger being severed... ;) stick someones manhood in it, see what that does...

:p off topic a bit, anyway i can get arctic silencer NV6 to cool things better? notably a pair of 7600GTs, there running hotter than when i used zalman, would AS5 and reseating them help?

Polystyrene through a fan is fun, you know the packing you get with large equipment, well, point the air flow at someone then shred the polystyrene so it blows the little bits at them, the static electricity produced doing this makes the polystyrene bits stick to the unfortunate victim who is then unable to brush them off or pick them off as they just keep sticking back to them.

:D

Update:

I now have a 120mm delta and 80mm vantec tornado on the way to me.

so i should have some pics/videos of what is going to happen.

i think im going to screw the fans to a piece of mdf, and setup a video camera and do some of the things suggested in this thread.

if you have any more suggestions, Please let me know.

StevenG *iddiot and test subject* lol

it should be some nice fun i think. just cant wait for the fans to get here so i can build my rig and get some tests going :D

Interesting! Why not sharpen the Delta blades then stick stuff through :) LOL
