I ordered one of these too, the other day! I'm just a 'poor' student though so I've gone for the 1.66 and the red finish, but all the other specs are the same (incl. battery). Saying it might take up to the 14th to arrive though. :(

haha im a poor uni student too....well im on placement working for toyota at the mo so im not poor at the mo haha. Hence the splashing out to 2.00ghz

I was tempted by the red but opted for the black. I just dont want to lug my desktop back and forth in my final year. My est delivery date is the 15th but i think that changes once it goes into production...i imagine yours says you're in pre-production yeah? How much did yours cost? did you use the discount code?

mines and intergrated x3100 128 i think with 64 dedicated...i havent really bought it for hardcore gaming. It will be for uni work and football manager :D

Haha, mine was vice-versa - I was tempted by black, but went for red. Figured I might as well make it a bit flashier! Yep, it's in pre-production at the moment, got the email to say so this morning. Mine came to £594 with the discount code, but I've tried using Quidco so we'll see if that knocks a bit more off (5% off the ex. VAT price).
Will update as it progresses though. :)

what's the GFX card like on that?

The Intel X3100 is nothing special - little better than Intel graphics of the past, but it's still no gaming chipset and driver support for games is apparently dire. Didn't buy it for games though, so it was a fine option for me and will handle Vista Aero nicely. You can upgrade to a GeForce 8400GS though which, while nothing special either, is adequate for some light gaming.

well i may be able to get a further discount via work....do they let you ammend your order with more than one discount code? if so i'll get it and ring up

They might do, try it and see, it can't hurt. I'm actually waiting to see what the next few days bring; that 10% code runs out today, so if they then start doing an even better deal on the 1330 than we've ordered, I'm going to kick up a fuss.

hey david.n.c can you post some pics please as i would like to see what 1 of these
look like :)

thanks

I was tempted to go for one of the M1330's with the discounts they are doing at the minute but was put off with the release of the new mobile Penryn processor coming up. Think they launch January 6th.

I just ordered the XPS 1530, the slightly larger version for £868 inc a 9cell battery. The thing has a shipping delay of a few weeks though. I almost ended up opting for the XPS m1710 but couldn't justify the cost, or the older design.

you left it a day late, else you could have had it for £760ish :p :)

I know :( I've spent days mucking about with the customisation option and noticed the price fluctuating as I did. I just couldn't make my mind up and almost went with the m1710. Mines in production now but the predicted delivery date is the 16th Jan.
