My laptop is in the hands of my parents (:D), it just needs to find its way across the country(:(), so hopefully it'll be here on Monday (just to rub it in:p).
 
Mine just arrived this morning! :D

Just a couple of quick questions, after having butchered the installed programs I realised I'm going to have to do a fresh install anyway as I need more partitions. So just before I stuff everything up is there anything in the recovery partition I need that won't be on the disks? If not that's going too. :)

Also what did people get in the box? I had a small empty box at the top of the big box in mine that looked like it was designed to protect something (black padding in it) but had nothing in, is it just packing?

I totall wiped my 1330, the media direct partition , everything.

All the drivers are on the dell discs.

The padded box i think is for a cd/dvd drive, i think, dont worry nothings missing !
 
One problem you might have is the os not seeing the hard drive, if you do change the setting in the bios

Set the BIOS drive type to ATA compatible (NOT SATA/AHCI).

It seems quick and painless so far (after I set the boot order to CD/DVD first). Windows installed in about 20 minutes and i'm just installing the drivers from the CD now. Is it best install them from CD or just go into device manager and update via the internet?

do it off the cd/dvd , then goto the dell site and check for latest drivers or bioses

Don't bother with the driver CD, just download the stuff you need from the Dell website.
