No, I AM NOT. Jesus how hard is it?

WHY would somebody who is 'obsessed with value for money' be planning to spend £10,000 on a 5 year old BMW that offers absolutely rubbish value for money? Seriously a Perodua Nippa offers better value for money than a used 3 or 5 Series!

Get your facts straight before you continually post the same rubbish!

nice to see your coming round about the nippas :) and be nice to button!

Is there really any need for all the fighting? Fox does come across as a little blunt and perhaps even a little arrogant/self righteous but I'm sure he's not really like that. He freely admits that he's not always right. Regardless, he makes a valuable contribution to the forums. If his posts offend you too much, click here :).

MrMoon, congratulations on the new car! I can certainly see the appeal of the Mazda. Lovely cars IMO.

How did you find the dealer, good service etc?

great service always friendly and not too pushy made em wait 2 weeks before I ordered it from first going in
the test drive was heres the keys come back in an hour or so which was cool ragged the arse off it and did a mix of the A3 and small country roads and drove it through a town in heavy traffic so I got a decent test drive, loads better than the acumpanied test drives I had with ford, toyota, renault and citroen.

The great thing about opinions is everyones is different and when you add them all together you get interesting discussions, well, you do if people can keep their opinions to the cars rather than how stupid they think the guy who posted them is

i think the problem people have fox is that you spout your opinions as fact. Whether thats how they're intended or not is besides the point - its how they're interpreted.

Also the fact you defend your opinion (which is usualy the same regardless of context or request (eg Focus/Mondeo/BMW ;) )) so vigorously also makes them appear more than just "opinion"

but hey, they're my 2c

No need to start getting personal guys.

Fox - as it happens I agree the car isn't the best ever value for money (assuming that was your point). However, I don't agree that at £15k the car is, and I quote "a ridiculous amount of money".

It's not. Yeah maybe there's more to be had for £15k, but even at £15k - the 3 is far from daylight robbery.

:)

Sounds... great.

And I'm merely posting my opinion. I know damn well people buy things without using any common sense at all - do you think buying a 5 Series at 22 is even remotely sensible? Of course not, but everyone seems to forget this. It's far easier to pretend I think something it's blatantly obvious to anyone who reads Motors is not true, becuase it suits your point of view, right?

So what? He's just spent £15,000 - if the opinion of some bloke on a forum after he's done that narks him then was he totally happy with his purchase in the first place? If he's happy with his purchase he won't care what somebody like myself thinks about his car.

Mmmmm, more inaccurate sweeping generalisations. The only Citroen I ever recommend is the Xsara, and even then only becuase 1 in 4 posts appears to be something like 'Gonna buy a 306, what alternatives are there'. Fords? Focus and Mondeo, wow, thats a huge amount. Infact I've even stated on numerous occasions I'd never have a Focus myself but yet again you ignore this in your 'OMG HE THINKS EVERYONE IS LIKE HIM' tirade.

I think I've probably had a go at more BMW's than I've ever recommended ;)

And people like Alfa Romeo, selling unreliable cars for decades becuase 'they are different' (ie, most people are not daft enough to buy em) are very gratefu ;)

FOX, I know this has been coming for ages and i'll probably get a suspension for it but i can't help myself.

GET A LIFE! He wasn't asking for a slagging and have you EVER considered the fact that you are wrong on occasion?

34,900 posts. Turn the computer off and go and drive that car of yours for awhile, there's a whole world out there.

Mmmm, fantastic, more abuse from people who take things waaay too seriously and believe forums should be purely about people patting each other on the back and not having their opinions..

Wrong on occasion? Hell, I'm wrong all the time - some of my opinions are stupid, some of the things I post are incorrect, and I make mistakes. Just like anyone does. I've never said otherwise, don't know where you get the idea I do from - all I ever do is post what I think. It comes with no guarantee of accuracy, no warranty, and it is not fact - it is purely my thoughts.

IMHO there is nothing more annoying than somebody who'll post what they think others want to hear rather than what they genuinelly believe, I mean, whats the point?

I know, thanks, and I spend more time in it than I do here

Don't worry, you got that weighed off in your previous post.

Seriously, what did you expect the replies to this thread to be?

What did he want? Everyone to tell him how awesome his new car is? He says he posted to see if anyone else had one but he didn't actually say that in his post - he just said what he'd bought and how much. To me, that implies the start of a discussion about that particular car otherwise... whats the thread going to consist of? Mutual congratulations and nothing more? I'm sure he doesn't need the re-assurance of a forum after buying a car?

From your posting style, you do, IMO, give the impression to people reading that you believe your opinion to be gospel. Of course this is unintentional but I can see how it might upset people. If you don't want to offend people, it might be an idea to tone it down a bit by throwing in a few more :ps and 'IMO's ;).

For instance

Thats a hell of a lot of money for a mid size hatchback.

Could become

Nice car, congratulations. It's a lot of money to spend on a mid size hatch but I'm sure you'll be very happy with it.

Just a thought.

You can't beat the feeling of owning a brand new car, knowing it was built to your own specification and hasn't been abused by anyone else. So it costs you more, but there is more to life than money.
^^ Exactly my thoughts on the matter.

Personally i'd love a new car, ok so not if it meant I had to compromise and get something rubbish just to get a new plate, but if I could afford what I wanted brand new then why not.

Hope you enjoy the 3 OP, don't forget to stick some pics up when it arrives in all its shiney newness.

The problem with you fox, is that you're like me :p

Like it or not, you stress your opinion to such a point that nobody cares anymore. Nobody likes an opinion shoved in their faces, and god knows i know what its like to be that person doing the shoving. If you could for one second step back and read your posts as if they were somebody else's, you may just see it.

You may not like it, or mean it, but that is how virtually everybody on these forums read your posts (and that doesnt mean i dont agree with you). For their sakes, just ease up on it. im sure being an underboss youd be one of the first people to put others in the place for over-stressing an opinion. But that's enough about that.

Honestly though the real question? why the hell cant we just get along? what is it that causes so much anger over 'just' reading a post. Maybe it's because emotion or intent is so hard to convey in text? i dunno:)

ps please dont ban me.

pps. Lot of money (LOOOOOTTTTT of money) but i also quite like the mazda3 lol. However im happy with a POS car that gets me from A to B. oh to have 15 grand lol

Nice motor and I'd agree with what others have already commented on about the feeling of picking up a brand new car from the showroom. It may not be the best financial move or something you want to do with every car you buy, but certainly something that should be done at some point in your life if you can afford it.

PS. To various peeps above, as my Mum used to say, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything! ;)

Was the Mazda garage in Bookham by any chance ?

Hope you enjoy it fella.
